How to submit quality posts to /r/steemit/ - The official steemit subreddit!
First, sign up or login to your reddit account - its quick and easy. Just do it.
I've been on reddit for 9 years as user 'smashcrab' - feel free to send me a friend request :)

- Paste in the full steemit url in the first box on the submit page
- Click "use suggested title" to automatically fill in post title from steemit
- Tweak your title as you like, I at least take "-- steemit" off the end .
- Thats it! Click submit and you're good to go :)

And with those steps you now have your story link up on one of the most heavily trafficked sites on the internet.
Heres is the SteemStem story I posted in the examples above.
The steemit subreddit is at 703 subscribers at time of writing, but only a handful of people are actively promoting here at the moment - this is an opportunity to stand out from the crowd.
How to cross-post to other subreddits
As long as your content is not abusive, or clearly bad for steemits public image then you will always have a place to post your content on /r/steemit .
However, for maximum effect you should consider also cross-posting to other subreddits as well.
Use the reddit search box to find other subreddits relevant to your post topic to cross-post on - but don't overdo it!
Once you find a relevant subreddit you just follow the same instructions as before, except at the end of your title add "(x-post from /r/steemit)" , and fill in the "choose a subreddit" field with your relevant subreddit.

How you can help steemits public image on reddit
Reddit is still a massive source of traffic on the internet. In some ways, reddit was one of the first "democratic" content platforms on the web and many users have been consistently posting and reading for a decade already.
Maintaining a strong presence on reddit, so the world sees users being rewarded for their quality creations is key to continued growth and success of Steemit imo, and there are a few things you can do to help here:
Please take a moment to show your support for quality posts you see each day, don't forget that reddit votes are unlimited and free.
Never forget about the power of your own words on another person - please be kind and genuine as much as possible. Lots of people are extremely emotionally invested, trying their best to make the most of this opportunity like the rest of us. Don't abuse others, and report abusive or offensive posts . We don't have to all hold hands and sing, but we should all at least try to be good ambassadors for steemit community when posting. Do not spam - If you cross-post articles to other subreddits make sure they are relevant to your article, and don't submit your post multiple times to the same subreddit.
Feel free to post other users quality content - especially if you see large projects that we should be proud of, or giveaways and competitions.
Giveaways are an extremely powerful motivator for new users to sign up - please make extra efforts to spread these far and wide when you see them :)
Conclusion
These are just my initial thoughts, I've only been trying to help with the subreddit for 5 days so far and I'm still learning a lot myself. So far I've revamped the style to be more like steemit, coded an automoderator script to reduce posting issues for new users and I've got a lot more improvement still to come :)
It's not entirely selfless, I've invested a lot of time into steemit and I'd like to be here for a lot longer yet.
I'm convinced that if we work as a community and consistently post our quality content to /r/steemit as part of the promotion a lot of us are already doing then we will massively increase the traffic coming to the site from reddit.
With more traffic comes more readers, more registrations and more votes per day - and all of these metrics are taken into account when valuating the price of Steem itself - so a good public community presence could even turn the price around!
Lets make sure the world can see our community is thriving and full of some of the most intelligent, creative minds around.
Who's with me ? Lets make /r/steemit great again!
