I spent a good chunk of today generating endless wordclouds based on steemit user data using a really early version of steemcloud :D
I can see a lot of interesting possibilities with using wordclouds to answer certain common questions steamians in a quick visual way such as:
- Quickly seeing vote weights on a particular story
- Checking what a users most common article words or tags are
- View trending topics, sized by amount of recent posts
- See who a user votes for most often
So far I've only got the basic site structure and I've made some masking images to shape the wordcloud around the steem logo, some basic styling etc.. But I've been staying up way too late tho and really shouldn't try to pull an all-nighter yet again - it's already nearly 3am..
Steemit is full of a lot of switched on people though, if anyone is feeling inspired you can find a reeaally early version of the site at http://cloud.steemviz.com and have a play (or save and customize your own copy - its just html and javascript)
I think it'd be a neat way for posts with no images in them to automatically grab a thumbnail image for the post based on the article text. A bookmarklet should be doable for convenient thumbnail creation too!
I've got too many ideas and not enough time - haven't felt this inspired in ages. I'm now 12 days into my steem addiction, and my partner @krystle is losing her shit over her newfound magic internet money - thanks steemit!
Update : My partner @krystle just wrote a short creative writing piece inspired by @complexring 's #descriptionsonthespot , and needed a thumbnail so 2 seconds in steemcloud and we have this ..
