I was thinking about how my first publication could be in this community and I think that the first steps in this country are the best I can give, very emotional steps, my story of the beginnings of life here and recreate the first walk that if in this beautiful land. I arrived in Spain on the 13th of June 2018 at 2pm, where nobody was waiting for me, as I didn't know anyone, and yet I got off the plane and went to the exit door of the airport as naturally as possible. Before that I think I had studied the airport a thousand times, I had to know the way. I had never travelled by plane before, my first time was from Ezeiza to Barajas and from there to Malaga. I was calm, I think my angel was looking after me and I was going with Cata, my cat. I was so worried about her that I forgot about myself, she was the only one who mattered that I was well. She would be my anchor, my grounding cable in difficult times. I couldn't have chosen a better travelling companion than her. >I always say that in the ocean I died and when I landed I was born again, and I was. It was a radical 180-degree change. There was only plan A, there was no plan B, there was none. That's how I had programmed it with my family. I chose to come first and open the way for my family afterwards, my mother and brother, plus two other kittens. They each brought a kitten. I was not going to leave my children in Argentina.

Estuve pensando cómo podría ser mi primera publicación es esta comunidad y creo que los primeros pasos en este país son lo mejor que puedo dar, pasos muy emotivos, mi historia de los comienzos de la vida aquí y recrear el primer paseo que si en esta hermosa tierra. Llegué a España el día 13 de junio del año 2018 a las 14 hs, donde nadie me esperaba, ya que a nadie conocía y sin embardo baje del avión y me dirigí a la puerta de salida del aeropuerto con la mayor naturalidad. Previo a eso creo que me estudié el aeropuerto unas mil veces, tenía que saber el camino. Jamás había viajado en avión, mi primera vez fue desde Ezeiza a Barajas y de allí a Málaga. Estaba tranquila, creo que mi ángel me cuidaba e iba con Cata, mi gata. Estaba tan preocupada por ella que me olvidé de mí misma, sólo ella era la que importaba que estuviera bien. Ella sería mi ancla, mi cable a tierra en los momentos difíciles. No pude elegir mejor compañera de viaje que ella. >Siempre digo que en el océano morí y al tocar tierra volví a nacer y así fue. Fue un cambio radical de 180 grados. Sólo había plan A, no había plan B, no lo había. Así lo había programado con mi familia. Elegí venir primera y abrir el camino a mi familia luego, mi madre y hermano, más otros dos gatitos. Cada uno trajo a un gatito. Today I will tell you about the first steps, the first week of living in Spain. A taxi took me to a hotel, one that allowed animals, and there aren't many. It was expensive for me at the time, but I needed Cata to be with me. The hotel is called El Riad Andaluz and it has an old style that they have to maintain, very old and it would even look shabby, but that didn't matter to me because I was in the place I wanted to be, something had led me here. The hotel didn't offer breakfast or meals or anything like that, just the room and the possibility of being with my cat, that was enough for me. I just wasn't used to being in such a small place, the room was very cramped and I felt strange. On Wednesday I was so tired... it had been more than 18 hours of travelling, 12 hours from Ezeiza to Barajas, five hours waiting for the transfer and then a little more than an hour to Malaga. I rested, took care of Cata and communicated with my family.

Hoy le relataré los primeros pasos, la primera semana de vida en España. Un taxi me condujo a un hotel, uno que admitiera animales, y no hay muchos. Era costoso para mí en ese momento, pero necesitaba que Cata estuviera conmigo. El hotel se llama El Riad Andaluz y tiene un estilo antiguo que deben mantener, muy antiguo y hasta parecería precario, pero eso no me importaba porque estaba en el lugar que quería, algo me había guiado hasta aquí. El hotel no ofrecía desayuno ni comidas ni nada de eso, sólo la habitación y la posibilidad de estar con mi gata, eso me bastaba. Sólo que no estaba costumbrada a estar en un lugar tan reducido, la habitación era muy reducida y me sentí rara. El miércoles estaba tan cansada… habían sido más 18 hs de viaje, 12 horas desde Ezeiza a Barajas, cinco horas de espera para el trasbordo y luego poco más de una hora hasta Málaga. I spent the next two days doing paperwork, asking for registration, which I didn't even know how to do, as I didn't know anyone. I went to the police, I asked there and in several places. I went to a town hall office and on Friday I handed in the papers. Between Wednesday and Thursday I managed to rent a studio twelve kilometres from the centre, a place of forty square metres, which was fine for me. I had already been looking into this two months before from Argentina, so being in the place made it easier. I had some guidance from people I met on the way, circumstantially, and I was able to do it. >It was such an intense two days that more than two days it seemed like a month, I did so many things that you wouldn't believe I did them in two days. On Saturday I didn't feel well, I think it was accumulated tiredness and nervous tension from those three days so I rested. But on Sunday I went out for the first time to explore and I don't think I ever stopped from that moment on.

Los dos días siguientes los dedique a hacer trámites, papeles, pedir el empadronamiento, lo cual al no conocer a nadie no sabía ni cómo hacerlo. Fui a la policía, pregunté allí y en varios lugares. Llegué a una oficina del Ayuntamiento y el día viernes entregué los papeles. Entre el mismo miércoles y el jueves logré alquilar un estudio a doce kilómetros del centro, un lugar de cuarenta metros cuadrados, estaba bien para mí. Ya venía viendo este tema dos meses antes desde Argentina lo cual al estar en el lugar fue más fácil. Tuve alguna guía de gente que conocí en el camino, circunstancialmente y pude lograrlo. >Fueron dos días tan intensos que más que dos días parecía un mes, hice tantas cosas que no me creerían que las hice en dos días. El sábado no me sentí bien, creo que fue cansancio acumulado y tensión nerviosa de esos tres días por lo que descansé. I left the hotel with my best friend, Google Maps on my phone, and of course on Thursday I had also bought a prepaid phone line. I spent as little as possible those days, the money I had saved for two years had to last a long time, just in case. With the map in my mobile, I set off for the centre, more centre and the sea. One of my dreams was to see the Mediterranean Sea, I had to get there. It was the first time I saw the promenade, the sea, those structures, the city park, I walked along those clean streets. Everything surprised me, that the drivers respected the pedestrian crossing, that the pavements were clean, that the people were so cheerful. Tourists stopped me in the street asking me to take their picture. I felt as if I was a person from a remote place and I was in a city for the first time. I think I mentioned it once, as I was walking on that first walk the word that came to my mind was freedom. I changed country and was able to evolve into my best self. The road was not easy and still is not easy, but I know I am on the right path. I took a leap of faith into myself.

Salí del hotel con mi mejor amigo, el Google Maps en el teléfono, por supuesto el jueves también había comprado una línea prepaga de teléfono. Gasté lo menos posible esos días, el dinero ahorrado por dos años debía durar mucho tiempo, por si acaso. Con el mapa en el móvil, salí rumbo al centro, más centro y al mar. Uno de mis sueños era ver el mar mediterráneo, tenía que llegar a ese lugar. Fue la primera vez que vi el paseo marítimo, el mar, esas estructuras, el parque de la ciudad, recorrí esas calles limpias. Todo me sorprendía, que los conductores respetaran el cruce de los peatones, que las aceras estuvieran limpias, que la gente fuera tan alegre. Turistas me paraban en la calle pidiéndome les tome una fotografía. Sentía como si fuera una persona de un lugar remoto y estaba por primera vez en una ciudad. Creo que alguna vez lo mencioné, mientras caminaba en ese primer paseo la palabra que me vino a la mente fue libertad. Cambié de país y pude evolucionar hacia mi mejor versión. El camino no fue nada fácil y aún no lo es, pero sé que estoy en el camino correcto. I will never forget every detail of my first steps in this country, which opened its doors to me thanks to the fact that my maternal grandfather, Fermín, was Spanish and never became a naturalised Argentinean citizen, so after five years of waiting for nationality and then arriving, the decision to emigrate came. My grandfather died when I was seven years old, but thanks to him I returned to his homeland. Like him, it was not easy for me, but I know that he brought me here to improve my life. Jamás olvidaré cada detalle de mis primeros pasos en este país, que me abrió las puertas gracias a que mi abuelo materno, Fermín, era español y nunca se nacionalizó argentino, por lo que después de cinco años de esperar la nacionalidad y esta llegar, vino la decisión de emigrar. Mi abuelo falleció cuando yo tenía siete años, pero gracias a él volví a su tierra. Como a él, a mí no me fue fácil, pero sé que me trajo aquí para mejorar mi vida.
