Why do they need that big armored truck?

That's the question we were asking when this beast rolled by in the 4th of July parade. ![8.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmcKcTewyQHnAJErbdAneZoJ51fGMQyTxLBdNwS1CADf13/8.jpg) This is the [City of Schertz](http://schertz.com/), TX. Population, a bit over 36,000. The area is nice, clean, growing and seems to be a happy place. We are just confused about this "display of force", or perhaps we just misunderstand the purpose of this kind of vehicle? Maybe it's for fire fighting? Perhaps carrying valuables from place to place in an emergency? But... it says "Emergency Response", so it would seem to me that it is for riot control or something like that. I don't remember any significant riots or anti-government demonstrations in this neck of the woods lately.

It's not about conspiracy

Honestly I'm just curious! So, since I couldn't find any information about this on the public website or Facebook page I just gave dispatch a call. Here is there response: "We were given a Government Grant. Many local law enforcement groups were given Military Vehicles. We use this truck specifically for any SWAT type calls we have for troop transportation. This vehicle gives more protective cover to the team during transportation." Well, there you have it. The Government was kind enough to share Military vehicles with our small town local law enforcement. 😇
