The why?

Not only did the internet shift the informational paradigm towards abundance, but it also facilitated something much more complex and profound. Because of its versatility, we started using it more and more, to the extent it became both a repository as well as a mirror of human nature. Here lies the true power of a digital enterprise, access to vast data about behavior. However, this is not necessarily a good thing because it's becoming increasingly obvious that big data is not used for moral purposes and we need to balance this out.

I believe there is only one thing that sets us apart as a species, complex large-scale collaboration. And this is my goal, to get real-world data about sustainable human collaboration in order to determine the best courses of action in improving different facets of life and society.

Who we are

Thus Prosocial Labs, a social entrepreneurship effort that coagulated in the form of a startup, thinktank, and incubator with the mission of facilitating large-scale sustainable behavior and demonetize the cost of living.

Our vision is to leverage the emerging social, economic and cultural models that are a direct result of digital interconnectedness and create products which are moral, socially, ecologically and economically sustainable, while aggregating people together in mutually beneficial interactions.

The how?

Our first product will be a blockchain based social network designed to facilitate civic collaboration. The blockchain will act as an immutable and fully transparent record of interactions between civic actors and the crypto-economics side will incentivize sustainable civic behavior.

We want to tackle four main directions. Firstly, we want to facilitate collaboration between volunteers and organizations by creating an “uber” for volunteering. Although there are platforms that perform this function already, we want to integrate a novel rating system which will determine the most effective volunteers and organization and reward them with the integrated token. Effectively creating a cryptocurrency that directly rewards fruitful civic collaboration and can act as a funding mechanism for social change.

The second course of action refers to the minimization of ideological bubbles and biases by creating human-powered algorithms that weed out fake news and are able to group opposing points of view together. One other function in this direction is a digitally curated public debate function. The third direction is that of facilitating peaceful direct actions, by using mesh networking the curation of protests can be done with increased ease.

The fourth and most important course of action refers to effective altruism. There are a number of actors involved in every cause and because different methods are used we have different rewards on investment. We can use data mining to determine the most effective ways of action and structure models for positive social change. We can also incentivize this type of effectiveness with the integrated token.

Why on a blockchain

The use of blockchain technology in this endeavor comes with several benefits. But key aspect is the integration of our novel rating system in order to determine and incentivize positive and effective civic collaboration, all this in a transparent and immutable way.
