¿Es la tranquilidad el sinónimo de felicidad? Algunas personas piensan que si, otras no le ven sentido y algunos (como yo) piensan que tal vez, solo tal vez, tengan una pequeña cosa en común. A menudo nos encontramos buscando incansablemente la felicidad pero, irónicamente cuando la tenemos en frente no nos damos cuenta de ello y lo más loco de todo es que solo llegamos a notar en qué momento éramos felices cuando estamos en un bajón emocional o pasando por una situación lamentable en nuestra vida. >Is tranquility the synonym of happiness? Some people think so, others don't see the point and some (like me) think that maybe, just maybe, they have a little something in common. Y la felicidad ¿Qué? ¿Dónde esta? ¿Cuando volverá? Y empezamos a juzgarnos duramente a pensar, si estamos haciendo las cosas bien o si todo lo negativo que estamos viviendo es nuestra culpa, quizás pensamos que pudimos haber hecho algo mejor para evitar sentirnos así y es una de las situaciones (considero yo) de las más frustrantes que uno como ser humano puede vivir. La mente puede ser nuestro peor enemigo, y aunque todos sabemos que no debe ser así, que por el contrario debería ser nuestro mejor aliado, no pasa así. Puedes haber culminado la carrera de tus sueños, tener un buen trabajo por el que muchas personas matarían, incluso podrías celebrar tu independencia adquiriendo las cosas materiales que siempre has querido y aún así sentirte insuficiente, pero, y la felicidad ¿Que?... ¿En qué momento somos felices? ¿Cuando sentiremos que tenemos la vida resuelta? ¿En qué momento alcanzaremos esa plenitud de la que tantas personas hablan? Porque a menudo podemos percibir que los años pasan, estamos envejeciendo y seguimos sintiéndonos miserables o por mucho, muy lejos de dónde imaginábamos deberíamos estar. >It is just at that moment when you ask yourself the question.... And we begin to judge ourselves hard to think, if we are doing things right or if all the negative things we are living is our fault, maybe we think we could have done something better to avoid feeling this way and it is one of the most frustrating situations (I think) that one as a human being can live. The mind can be our worst enemy, and although we all know that it should not be like that, that on the contrary it should be our best ally, it is not like that. >You may have completed the career of your dreams, have a good job that many people would kill for, you could even celebrate your independence by acquiring the material things you have always wanted and still feel insufficient, but what about happiness? When are we happy? When will we feel that we have our life solved? When will we reach that fullness that so many people talk about? Because often we can perceive that the years go by, we are getting older and we still feel miserable or far, far away from where we imagined we should be. Es allí cuando te planteas ¿Realmente la felicidad existe? Pues desde hace muchos años yo he creído que no existe efectivamente esa felicidad plena de la que todos hablan, aquella que nos venden en los libros o películas, esa de la que hablan los terapeutas, consejeros o psicólogos clínicos. Porque ese eufórico sentimiento de felicidad solo se compone de pequeños espacios de tiempo en la vida de una persona, pero no es algo que perdure perpetuamente. ¿Me explico? Muchos son felices luego de tener su primer hijo, después de casarse con la persona que aman y otros al culminar una carrera y graduarse, pero aunque son momentos que nos marcan con felicidad, no nos seguimos sintiendo tan felices una vez que seguimos avanzando y acaba la euforia. Hay quienes dicen que hay que buscar la felicidad en las pequeñas cosas del día a día y disfrutarlas, pues el simple hecho de amanecer vivos es un motivo de alegría o al menos eso debería serlo. Pero yo sigo pensando que es subjetivo, existen personas en algún rincón del mundo que sufren luchando con una enfermedad por ejemplo, y el hecho de amanecer y volver a abrir los ojos para soportar dolor se siente un castigo para si mismos. >That is when you ask yourself, does happiness really exist? Well, for many years I have believed that the happiness that everyone talks about, that which is sold to us in books or movies, that which therapists, counselors or clinical psychologists talk about, does not really exist. Because that euphoric feeling of happiness is only composed of small spaces of time in a person's life, but it is not something that lasts perpetually. Shall I explain? Many are happy after having their first child, after marrying the person they love and others after finishing a career and graduating, but although these are moments that mark us with happiness, we do not continue to feel as happy once we move on and the euphoria ends. >There are those who say that we should look for happiness in the little things of everyday life and enjoy them, because the simple fact of waking up alive is a reason for joy, or at least it should be. Y ahora aquí estoy yo, aun joven pero sintiéndome vieja, inexperta y estancada, buscándole sentido a esa felicidad de la que todos hablan la cual aún no he construido o percibido, capaz estoy siendo egoísta conmigo misma o por el contrario tanto tiempo libre me está haciendo sobre pensar muchísimo más de lo que debería. ¿Ustedes son felices? >So I would say that happiness is such an abstract and subjective feeling or state of mind, that defining it is very difficult and could be considered selfish because, what may represent happiness for me, may not be for you and that must be respected. >And now here I am, still young but feeling old, inexperienced and stagnant, looking for meaning to that happiness that everyone talks about which I have not yet built or perceived, maybe I am being selfish with myself or on the contrary so much free time is making me overthink much more than I should.
