Yes, I was planning this for a while and with my busy schedule it had to be a Sunday while going on an unsuspecting hike to make the surprise work, it did! The short hike was planned for Räuberhöhle (Robber's Den), located in a quiet village called Nittendorf, the perfect location to steal someone's heart. The hike was super easy since my mind was somewhere else, and Erica was excited to see a German forest with lots of colourful leaves covering the ground left over from the Fall. --- [Deutsch] Es begann alles vor 3 Jahren und 8 Monaten, und heute (15.12.24) nach einer weiteren kurzen Fernbeziehung habe ich beschlossen, ein Versprechen zu geben. Ja, ich hatte das schon eine Weile geplant und bei meinem vollen Terminkalender musste es ein Sonntag sein, während eines ahnungslosen Spaziergangs, um die Überraschung zu ermöglichen. Es hat funktioniert! er kurze Spaziergang war zur Räuberhöhle geplant, die sich in einem ruhigen Dorf namens Nittendorf befindet, der perfekte Ort, um jemandem das Herz zu stehlen. The photo above was taken before the hike even began...I guess only the good pictures make it to the blog. --- [Deutsch] Unsere erste Herausforderung war, ein steiles Tal hinunterzugehen, und dann den steilen Berg wieder hinaufklettern, was natürlich kein Problem für mich war, denn...nun, ich habe es bereits erwähnt, meine Gedanken waren woanders. Anyway let's get back to how it really was....it was super chill. In fact, our pace was slow I thought we would still be in the forest by the time it got dark. The reality is I couldn't magically improve our pace, every time I tried I got distracted by the gorgeous face of my now Fiancée. --- [Deutsch] Es dauerte nicht lange, bis wir eine weitere Pause einlegen mussten. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt hatten wir es etwa zur Hälfte den Talhang wieder hinaufgeschafft, und jetzt hatten wir die üblichen Symptome: Atemnot, zitternde Knie, schweißnasse Hände... wie es wirklich war...es war super entspannt. Tatsächlich war unser Tempo so langsam, dass ich dachte, wir würden immer noch im Wald sein, wenn es dunkel wird. Here we are still about 20 minutes away from the den, we are really enjoying the hike and the cold breeze didn't feel so cold anymore. --- [Deutsch] Auf dem Weg zur Höhle sahen wir einen riesigen Baum, der meine Verlobte noch kleiner aussehen ließ. Note: We will come back to the same location to take more pictures after I propose...since we do think we are stronger together than any nature's force. --- [Deutsch] Wir kamen schließlich zu einem Aussichtspunkt, wo es fantastisch war, Fotos zu machen, aber der eisige Wind war ziemlich schmerzhaft...wir beschlossen jedoch, uns der Natur zu stellen und so viele Fotos zu machen, wie wir wollten.
