Is It Halloween Yet???

My 4 yo was asking for a Halloween cake earlier, followed with "when can we go trick or treat", and "I want Spongebob vampire", "no, Minion vampire".

Needless to say, he cannot make up his mind (*grins*)

I was doing some DIY earlier and wanted to post it like for today, but since my sickie babe wanted Halloween cake, I decided to bake Halloween bread instead. I know it's not the same, but he was very excited when he saw how the bread turned up.

My 8 yo straight away said they are "lava rocks", while my 4 yo said they are Minecraft. But nothing Halloweeny when it comes to Minecraft, although they do have the Halloween-skin pack. I was thinking more of Lake of Fire Brimstone, but yeah, whatever, lava rocks more suiting to little kids :P

Halloween Kapan Sih, Ma????

Anakku yang bungsu tuh super amat sangat ga sabar menanti kedatangan Halloween.

Meski dia gi sakit gini, yang ditanyain tuh Halloweeeeeeeen mulu wkwkwk Dia ga sabar mau pakai kostumnya, ga sabar ketok-ketok pintu rumah orang biar dapat cokelat, permen, dan mainan gratis, pokoknya bener-bener ga sabar deh.

Hari ini aja, dia minta dibuatin kue bertemakan Halloween. Tadinya aku sih ada buat prakarya yang mau kubagi tutorialnya, namun karena tuan besar minta kue, yah masuk dapur deh emaknya.

Keluar dari dapur sih ga menyajikan kue, melainkan batu-batu muntahan gunung Merapi nih :D

Kedua anakku matanya berbinar-binar pas lihat. Si sulung langsung bilang batu dari gunung berapi, sedangkan sibungsu bilang, batu dari video game, Minecraft.

My lava rocks are actually almond buns with chocolate filling.

Tentunya karena batu-batu gunung berapi ini cocok buat Halloween, aku ikut sertakanlah ke kontesnya si @stevescoins.

Batu-batu diatas sebenarnya roti rasa kacang almond yang tengahnya kuisi cokelat.

Here is the recipe if you'd like to make as well :D

BUNS

- 1/2 tbsp flax soaked in 1 tbsp water, set aside
- 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast, stirred into 125 ml lukwarm DF milk with 1 tbsp sugar added, set aside to bloom
- 250 g flour mixed with 30 g icing sugar and and generous pinch of Himalayan salt, mixed in a bowl
- 2 tsp almond essence
- 80 g vegan margarine, melted
- red gel food coloring, Wilton is vegan friendly, choose the "no taste" one.
- DF chocolate chips, as needed

Nih yah resepnya kalau mau coba juga :D

ROTI

- 1/2 sdt biji rami halus, campur dengan 1 sdm air, sisihkan hingga mengental
- 1/2 sdm ragi butiran, campurkan dengan 125 ml susu hangat-hangat kuku dengan 1 sdm gula pasir, sisihkan hingga mengembang
- 250 g terigu dicampur dengan 30 g gula bubuk dan sejumput garam
- 80 g margarin, lelehkan
- 2 sdt perisa almond
- pewarna makanan merah yang jel, secukupnya
- cokelat keping, secukupnya

HOW TO

- Mix food color into melted margarine
- Pour flax meal, yeast, essence, and margarine into flour mixture, knead then let rest, covered, for 30 mins, until doubled in size. Punch down, knead a little and divide into 8 portions.
- Flatten each and place enough chocolate chips in center, seam to seal
- Let buns rise again, 30 mins.

CARA MEMBUAT

- Campurkan biji rami kental serta ragi yang sudah mengembang kedalam terigu, aduk dengan sendok kayu. Tuangkan margarin leleh, pewarna dan perisa, uleni.
- Diamkan ditempat hangat 30 menit hingga mengembang, kempeskan
- Bagi menjadi 8, tipiskan, isi dengan cokelat, tutup, dan diamkan kembali 30 menit

While buns are resting, let's make the topping!

- 2 c rice flour
- 5 tbsp sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- a generous pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1/4 tsp almond essence
- 1 c lukewarm water (milk would require more food coloring, so water just fine!)
- black gel food coloring

Mix everything in a bowl and let rest in warm place until bubbly (15-20 minutes, by the time the buns done rising, the topping would be done as well :D)

Sementara roti mengembang, yuk bikin lapisan atasnya!

- 2 gelas tepung beras
- 5 sdm gula pasir
- 2 1/2 sdt ragi butiran
- sejumput garam
- 2 sdm minyak goreng
- 1/4 sdt perisa almond
- 1 gelas air hangat suam-suam kuku
- pewarna makanan hitam jel, secukupnya

Campur seluruh bahan, diamkan ditempat hangat hingga berbuih, 15-20 menit. Jadi pas roti sudah mengembang, topping juga sudah mengembang yak

Now that our buns risen, our topping as well, preheat convection oven 350 F.

Spoon some topping on buns as pictured, then bake for 15-18 mins

Cool on rack slightly, serve and enjoy :D

Kalau roti isi dah mengembang, topping juga mengembang, panaskan deh oven 350 F

Beri topping diatas roti dan panggang 15-18 menit

Jadi deh. Sajikan hangat yak, jadi cokelat masih meleleh, uenaaaak tenan :D
