I have always been a paradoxical person when it comes to time management, I am an expert at wasting my time but I push myself not to do it, I do my best to make the most of my time and that's why when it comes to video games I am not a completionist unless I love the game, I don't like dedicating 30 hours to a game that I can complete in 10 when in those other 20 hours I could be doing something else, but as I said, if I really love the game, things change. Probably the single player game to which I have dedicated the most time is Kingdom Hearts 2, I made it my mission to complete it on the highest difficulty level at level 1, and although there are still things left to complete that I still try from time to time, I don't "feel" like I am wasting my time, because as I said I love the game, and if you spend your time with things you love, if you get something positive out of it, you couldn't say you are wasting time. Let's talk about bigger proportions, let's talk about Monster Hunter World, a game that celebrated its 6th anniversary a few weeks ago, a whole generation if you think about it, not a short amount of time, and I haven't been playing it since its release, but for a year and three months, but based on the 750 hours I have invested at the time of writing this, I can say that it's a game that will accompany me for the rest of my life. It's not the first time I talk about Monster Hunter World, nor will it be the last, but I wanted to dedicate it a space once again now that its 6 years are being celebrated alongside the 20 years of Monster Hunter as a franchise. In my recent hours of gameplay, many things have happened that, despite few being new to me, it's a game where you never stop learning, and as I mentioned in my previous post about MHW, I have been completing the story a second time, focusing solely on learning the virtues of the Charge Blade. Not only have I devoted myself to advancing with a second character, but I have returned to my main account to pick up the things I am missing, there are a lot of quite time-consuming achievements to obtain in which I must start working towards the platinum in the game, but I have decided to take my time and do them as I continue playing so as not to overwhelm myself looking for species throughout the entire game. Returning to play Monster Hunter World from the beginning after so many hours feels... weird, yet it leaves you with a very familiar feeling. When I first played it, there were many things I didn't understand despite having help from a friend at the start, and the first time I played it, the sense of difficulty was much higher even in the low rank, honestly, I was surprised to start using the charge blade and eradicate monsters in so few minutes. Things changed though, reaching Master Rank was a huge leap in difficulty, it felt like playing for the first time again because I went from 10-minute hunts to 30-minute hunts, but when I look back and remember that I used to take up to 40 or even 50 full minutes to hunt a monster, I realize that those hours have not been in vain. But I haven't only used charged blade, but to vary the gameplay, I have dared to return to my main account to take advantage of the absurd amount of resources I have there to try my luck with other weapons that occasionally catch my attention but I never ultimately decided to try. For those who may be reading this and have no idea what I have written in other posts, I am a proud player of the best weapon in the game: the Great Sword (GS, two-ton iron, or however you prefer to call it), and although my start was with Long Sword, there is no weapon that has pleased me as much as the GS, so most of my hunts are with that weapon. In addition to the Charged Blade, I wanted to take the time to use the heavy bowgun, a weapon that I have never known how to properly exploit and that along with the charged axe is one of the most technical weapons in the game due to the specific way it must be armed and the skills you must equip so that you can do a correct damage in each hunt, and as any sensible hunter learning to use a weapon would do, I went to test it with the strongest monster in the game, the Fatalis. The result?, obviously I got disintegrated at first, but after several trial and error attempts I learned to better manage its attacks, it is particularly difficult to avoid certain fireballs because rolling with the heavy crossbow takes longer than with other weapons, requiring a lot of planning not only on what you are going to dodge but also where you are going to end up and being careful that the Fatalis is not waiting for you with a fireball to send you to the cart. Finally, I managed to defeat the Fatalis with the heavy crossbow, and like with every new weapon it is very satisfying to achieve it, although it becomes more of a matter of knowing the monster and the basics of the weapon, or simply having a good build and smashing the buttons while dodging as best you can. Not everything has been HBG and Charge Blade, but I am trying to eradicate Fatalis with all the game's weapons and currently I have 11 out of the 14 weapons, so I still have work to do while doing other things in the game and not forgetting to keep hunting with my friends, which always ends up being the generator of the best moments I spend within Monster Hunter. Perhaps some of you may wonder how a game that is NOT a live service game can offer you so many hours, and it is because replayability is Capcom's hallmark when it comes to making games, just learning to use all the weapons is something that will take you a good amount of hours due to how varied they are, and no matter if you know how to use one, it does not guarantee knowing how the rest work, although it is true that it becomes a little easier as you learn more about the game. At the end of the day Monster Hunter World is a game like any other in the sense that you may like it or not, and in the case of a franchise like this it can be a huge barrier for many who do not usually play this kind of thing, but that was my case and here, over 700 hours later, I still want to continue playing and playing until my hands fall off, far from doing justice to the 6th anniversary of such a wonderful game, it will just be another of many posts I have already made about the game, and those that are missing. Siempre he sido una persona paradójica en cuanto al uso del tiempo, soy experta en perder mi tiempo pero me presiono para no hacerlo, hago lo posible por aprovechar mi tiempo de la mejor manera posible y es por eso que cuando se trata de videojuegos no soy completista salvo que ame el juego, no me gusta dedicar 30 horas a un juego que puedo completar en 10 cuando en esas otras 20 horas puedo dedicarme a otro, pero como ya dije, si me gusta mucho el juego la cosa cambia. Probablemente el juego single player al que más tiempo tenga dedicado sea Kingdom Hearts 2, me di a la tarea de completarlo en la máxima dificultad a nivel 1, y aunque aún me quedan cosas por completar que sigo intentando de vez en cuando, no “siento” que esté perdiendo mi tiempo, pues como dije amo el juego, y si pasas tu tiempo con las cosas que amas, si sacas algo positivo de ello, no podrías decir que estás perdiendo el tiempo. Hablemos de proporciones más grandes, hablemos de Monster Hunter World, un juego que hace unas semanas cumplió los 6 años desde su lanzamiento, una generación entera si lo piensan, no es poco tiempo, y definitivamente no lo juego desde su salida, sino desde hace un año y tres meses, pero en base a las 750 horas que llevo al momento de redactar esto, puedo decir que es un juego que me acompañará para toda la vida. No es la primera vez que hablo de Monster Hunter World, tampoco será la última, pero quería dedicarle un espacio, una vez más ahora que se están celebrando sus 6 años junto a los 20 de Monster Hunter como franquicia. En mis últimas horas de juego han pasado muchas cosas que, a pesar de que pocas son novedades para mi, es un juego en el que nunca dejas de aprender, y como ya comenté en mi anterior post sobre MHW, he estado completando la historia una segunda vez enfocándome únicamente en aprender las bondades del hacha cargada. No solo me he dedicado a avanzar con un segundo personaje, sino que he vuelto a mi cuenta principal a retomar las cosas que me faltan, hay un montón de logros bastante tardados de conseguir en los que debo empezar a trabajar de camino al platino del juego, pero he decidido tomarme mi tiempo y hacerlos conforme siga jugando para no saturarme buscando especies a lo largo de todo el juego. Volver a jugar Monster Hunter World desde el inicio luego de tantas horas se siente… raro, y sin embargo te deja una sensación muy familiar. Cuando lo jugué por primera vez hay muchas cosas que no entendí a pesar de que tenía ayuda de un amigo al empezar, además de que la primera vez que lo jugué la sensación de dificultad era mucho más superior incluso en el rango bajo, honestamente me sorprendió empezar a utilizar hacha cargada y erradicar monstruos en tan pocos minutos. La cosa cambió eso sí, llegar al Rango Maestro fue un salto enorme en dificultad, se sintió como volver a jugar por primera vez porque pasé de cacerías de 10 minutos a cacerías de 30, pero cuando hago memoria y recuerdo que tardaba hasta 40 o los 50 minutos enteros en cazar un monstruo me doy cuenta de que esas horas no han sido en vano. Pero no solo he utilizado hacha cargada sino que por variar el gameplay me he animado a volver a mi cuenta principal para aprovechar la cantidad absurda de recursos que allí tengo para probar suerte con otras armas que ocasionalmente me llaman la atención pero nunca me decidí finalmente a probar. Para quien pueda estar leyendo esto y no tenga ni idea de lo que he escrito en otros posts, soy orgullosa jugadora de la mejor arma del juego: la Gran Espada (Great Sword, GS, fierro de dos toneladas, como prefieran llamarla), y aunque mis inicios fueron con Espada Larga, no hay arma que haya logrado gustarme tanto como la GS, por lo que la mayoría de mis cacerías son con dicha arma. Además del Hacha Cargada, quise tomarme el tiempo de utilizar la ballesta pesada, un arma que nunca he sabido aprovechar correctamente y que junto al hacha cargada es una de las armas más técnicas del juego por la forma específica que debe armarse y las habilidades que debes equipar para que puedas hacer un daño correcto en cada cacería, y como haría cualquier cazador sensato que está aprendiendo a utilizar un arma, fui a probarla con el monstruo más fuerte del juego, el Fatalis. ¿El resultado?, evidentemente me desintegró a la primera, pero luego de varios intentos de ensayo y error fui aprendiendo a gestionar mejor sus ataques, es especialmente difícil evitar ciertas llamaradas porque rodar con la ballesta pesada es bastante más tardado que con otras armas, exigiendo mucha planeación no solo sobre qué vas a esquivar sino dónde vas a terminar y tener el cuidado de que el Fatalis no te esté esperando con una bola de fuego para mandarte al carrito. Finalmente logré abatir al Fatalis con ballesta pesada, y como con cada arma nueva es muy satisfactorio el lograrlo, aunque se convierte más en una cuestión de conocer al monstruo y de saber lo básico del arma, o simplemente tener una buena build y machacar los botones esquivando como puedas. No todo ha sido ballesta y hacha cargada, sino que estoy intentando erradicar a Fatalis con todas las armas del juego y actualmente llevo 11 de las 14 armas, por lo que aún me queda trabajo mientras hago otras cosas en el juego y sin dejar por fuera seguir cazando con mis amigos, que siempre termina siendo el generador de los mejores momentos que paso dentro de Monster Hunter. Quizá alguno de ustedes podría preguntarse cómo un juego que NO es un juego como servicio puede ofrecerte tantas horas, y es que la rejugabilidad es el sello de Capcom cuando se trata de hacer juegos, tan solo el aprender a usar todas las armas es algo que te llevará una buena cantidad de horas debido a lo variadas que son todas, y sin importar que sepas usar una, no te garantiza conocer cómo funciona el resto, aunque es cierto que se va haciendo un poco más fácil conforme conoces más del juego. Al final del día Monster Hunter World es un juego como cualquier otro en el sentido de que puede gustarte o no, y en el caso de una franquicia como esta puede ser un muro enorme para muchos que no suelan jugar este tipo de cosas, pero ese fue mi caso y aquí, más de 700 horas después, sigo con ganas de seguir y seguir hasta que se me caigan las manos, pues lejos de hacer justicia al 6to aniversario de un juego tan maravilloso, solo será otro de muchos posts que ya he hecho sobre el juego, y los que falten.
