I can’t even leave now if I wanted

Dalian has been quite lucky with such a low count of people who contracted the Coronavirus. Very few deaths as well, and usually older people and those who already have other illnesses are dying, sadly. **Last I heard it has been over 26 days since a case been reported here. Some people aren’t even allowed to leave their home for 2 weeks or longer. Some people coming back from travel weren’t allowed into their homes. They need to have everything delivered, groceries and whatever they need. They might be allowed outside for a few minutes to walk their dogs but cannot come in contact with other people. Luckily for me, my building has free movement still. I can come and go as I please but here’s the catch, there is nowhere for me to go other than buy groceries or McDonald’s. Yes, sadly the only restaurant open near my home is McDonald’s and a dumpling shop. The dumpling shop doesn’t let you inside, you have to wait outside. All the other restaurants are closed until further notice. Just like schools, and my job as a teacher many things are not open for business. However, corporations are open and other types of businesses that are not social functions such as bars, clubs, hobby type places like rock climbing or swimming; (I apologize for the run-on sentence).

Friends don’t want to meet too much, and if they did where could they meet? At people's homes, I suppose but there’s the risk of bringing the virus into your home. I live alone, my girlfriend like so many other Chinese people left Wuhan to go see her family for the holiday when this all broke out. I have two cats, they are ok but I miss human contact. Most countries won’t allow anyone who has been in China for the past 14 days to enter. I can’t leave anyway, have two cats and no one will take care of them for such a long time until I can return. And taking them with me when I was able to leave was too difficult. And many other places in this world, are sitting by not worried about this.
