(Of particular interest to me ‘cos it’s a little over a year since my last cigarette!) ### @popurri [*The Lady in the Hat*](https://peakd.com/hive-170798/@popurri/the-lady-in-the-hat-engesp) Curator comment: > @popurri writes a pleasant story of a child who has the habit of observing people closely. This child attends the baptism of an infant, and notes the presence of a strange lady with a yellow hat. The child believes the lady has a witch face, and tells her mother. The mother tells the child that she sees what is not there because she watches so closely. While the family is at the post-baptism party, a car starts barreling down a hill. Nobody is driving, but the baptized baby is inside. Before the car can crash, the lady with the yellow hat stops it and rescues the baby. It turns out, she is the biological grandmother of the infant. Her daughter, who apparently is deceased, gave the baby up for adoption. It's a nice story, wrapped up nicely at the end, even if it is a bit of a stretch. ## Fiction Writing Prompt of the Week This week's prompt is: "**New Year's resolution**" Welcome to the prompt of the week. Tell us about a character who is particularly interested in making different life choices, with the hope of better outcomes in the New Year. It's great when a person decides to make change aspects of their lives that are not working and reach for new goals, but people often don't know how to make those dreams happen. We would love to see stories that are about making new resolutions, and about overcoming the hurdles that will inevitably make it difficult to achieve them. Good luck. Remember, as always, we are looking for the elements of *story*.
