In these days some photos appeared that surprised me, because in them I detected things that I did not remember.

After the first show we made with Los Cañoneros, on November 20, 1982, in the city of Mérida, we began to rehearse and make performances in Caracas and other cities. But the repertoire was not completely of cañonera music, but we played other songs from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. For that reason (something that I did not remember) there were songs that we made with the accompaniment of my guitar (which until then had been my main instrument). We made several songs with vocal works and some children's songs.

All this came to my mind when I saw these photos of one of the first shows we did with this format, which was performed in the acoustical shell of Parque del Este.

Note that the drum set is very small and we were still using a cello (with an effects pedal that lowered the sound by an octave), which was replaced a few months later by our first bass guitar.

This is the first time that I publish these photos, 37 years after taking them. They are a gem in the group's history.

En estos días aparecieron algunas fotos que me sorprendieron, porque en ellas detecté cosas que no recordaba.

Después de la primera presentación que hicimos con Los Cañoneros, el 20 de noviembre de 1982, en la ciudad de Mérida, empezamos a ensayar y a hacer presentaciones. Pero el repertorio no era completamente de música cañonera, sino que interpretábamos otras canciones de finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX. Por esa razón (algo que yo no recordaba) habían canciones que hacíamos con el acompañamiento de mi guitarra (que hasta ese momento había sido mi instrumento principal). Hacíamos varias canciones con trabajos vocales y algunas canciones infantiles.

Todo eso me vino a la memoria al ver estas fotos de una de las primeras actuaciones que hicimos con ese formato, la cual se realizó en la concha acústica del Parque del Este.

Nótese que el set de la batería es muy pequeño y aún usábamos un violonchelo (con un pedal de efectos que le bajaba una octava al sonido), el cual fue sustituido un para de meses después por nuestro primer bajo.

Esta es la primera vez que publico estas fotos, a 37 años de haberlas realizado. Son una joya en la historia del grupo.

In diesen Tagen erschienen einige Fotos, die mich überraschten, weil ich darin Dinge entdeckte, an die ich mich nicht erinnerte.

Nach der ersten Show, die wir mit Los Cañoneros am 20. November 1982 in der Stadt Mérida machten, begannen wir zu proben und in Caracas und anderen Städten aufzutreten. Das Repertoire bestand jedoch nicht ausschließlich aus Cañonera-Musik, sondern wir spielten andere Lieder vom Ende des 19. und Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts. Aus diesem Grund (etwas, an das ich mich nicht erinnerte) gab es Songs, die wir mit der Begleitung meiner Gitarre (die bis dahin mein Hauptinstrument gewesen war) machten. Wir haben mehrere Lieder mit Vokalwerken und einige Kinderlieder gespielt.

All dies kam mir in den Sinn, als ich diese Fotos von einer der ersten Shows sah, die wir mit diesem Format gemacht haben, das in der Konzertmuschel des Parque del Este aufgeführt wurde.

Beachtet mal, dass das Schlagzeug sehr klein ist und wir immer noch ein Cello verwendeten (mit einem Effektpedal, das den Klang um eine Oktave senkte), das einige Monate später durch unsere erste Bassgitarre ersetzt wurde.

Dies ist das erste Mal, dass ich diese Fotos veröffentliche, 37 Jahre nachdem sie aufgenommen wurden. Sie sind ein Juwel in der Geschichte der Gruppe.
