Here is the PART TWO of the Catcake painting tutorial _
Voici la DEUXIEME PARTIE du tutorial de ma peinture du Chat au Gapeau
Do you remember that I showed you the creative process for the background in PART ONE..?
I left you at the stage where the background was ready to welcome a character in its foreground :

Nous en étions restés au moment où mon fond était terminé et prêt à recevoir un personnage :
From there, I sketched roughly what popped into my mind and I probably was a bit hungry because a cake appeared on my cat's head as a hat ... ;-)
I remind you that I first started this painting to participate in @agneslaczo 's challenge which was Cat in Hat,
so of course I knew that I will not draw a lobster driving a van but rather a cat with a hat to be well in the subject = D
I just did not know that this hat would be a big cake and that the wolverine would enjoy it with the spoon held by its tail ...
It is in any case what I sketched, by indicating briefly what colors I intended to use
( although this can change at any time ... it would be the last straw if I'd confine myself into self inflicted rules... =D)
A partir de là, j'ai dessiné sommairement ce qui me passait par la tête et je devais avoir un peu faim car un gâteau est apparu sur la tête de mon chat en guise de chapeau...
Je rappelle que j'avais commencé à la base cette peinture pour participer au défi de @agneslaczo qui était " un chat avec un chapeau ",
donc bien sûr je savais que je ne dessinerai pas une langouste au volant d'une camionnette mais plutôt un chat avec un chapeau pour être bien dans le sujet =D
Je ne savais simplement pas que ce chapeau serait un gros gâteau et que le glouton le dégusterait à la petite cuillère tenue par sa queue...
C'est en tout cas ce que j'ai dessiné en indiquant sommairement quelles couleurs je comptais utiliser
(bien que ceci puisse changer à n'importe quel moment...il ne manquerait plus que je m'emprisonne moi-même dans des règles dis donc...)
14.Back to the canvas, I drew the cat and started by blocking its shape with gesso ...
a first layer, then as much as necessary to obtain a base well isolated from the colors of the background (in general 2 or 3 layers, not more)
15.Coloring phase with 2 shades of Neocolor II blue (my always water-soluble pastels ...)
16.That I dilute with a wet brush to get a nice painting
14.Retour à la toile, j'ai dessiné le félin et commencé par bloquer la forme du chat avec du gesso...
une première couche tout d'abord, puis autant que nécessaire pour obtenir une base bien isolée des couleurs de l'arrière plan (en général 2 ou 3 couches, pas plus)
15.phase de coloriage avec 2 teintes de bleu de Neocolor II (toujours les craies solubles à l'eau...)
16.que je dilue avec un pinceau mouillé pour obtenir une jolie peinture _
17.I draw the cake on the head
18. After layers of gesso on the shape of the cake I paint it with the Neocolor, as for the cat...
17.je dessine le gâteau sur la tête
18.après quelques couches de gesso sur la forme du gâteau je le peint avec les Neocolor, comme pour le chat
Some decorations later, with patterns, lines and dots using a yellow Posca and black super fine feltpen for contours ... ;-)
Quelques décorations plus tard avec des motifs, lignes et pointillés à l'aide d'un Posca jaune et de feutres noirs mine super fine pour les contours...
It's at this moment that I decide to isolate the cat from the background which is a little too busy and prevents to distinguish it correctly ;-)
So I paint an acrylic yellow circle (on white gesso) like a spotlight on the greedy,
and I add small white dots with permanent pencil Posca
C'est alors que je décide d'isoler le chat du fond qui est un peu trop chargé de motifs pour qu'on puisse le distinguer correctement ;-)
Je peint donc un cercle en peinture acrylique jaune (sur fond de gesso blanc),
comme un coup de projecteur sur le gourmand,
et je rajoute des petits points blancs au feutre permanent Posca ...
