today I share with you the work in progress of a painting I am doing.
The two characters that compose it were more or less ordered by a very special person, my youngest son who went since two months to study in Lyon.
When we moved his belongings to his roommate's apartment there, I asked him if he would like a painting for his new home, and he said he would love to have an elephant and a marmoset 😄

It was two months ago and I think he believes that I forgot, or that I do not necessarily have the time to make this painting,
but of course I have not forgotten and I will take advantage of his coming at Christmas to slip the painting among his stuff ...

So here for the origin of this painting,

let's move on to its realization, or at least the stages until now

and I will show you in its entirety when it will be finished tomorrow

J'espère que votre semaine démarre bien, en douceur et joyeusement, je vous le souhaite en tout cas 😊

aujourd'hui je partage avec vous les étapes de progression d'un tableau que je suis en train de réaliser.

Les deux personnages qui le composent m'ont été plus ou moins commandés par une personne très spéciale, mon plus jeune fils qui est parti depuis deux mois faire ses études à Lyon.
Lorsque nous avons emménagé ses affaires dans l'appartement qu'il occupe là-bas avec son colocataire, je lui ai demandé s'il aimerait un tableau pour son nouveau chez-lui, et il m'a répondu qu'il aimerait beaucoup avoir un éléphant et un ouistiti 😄

C'était il y a deux mois et je pense qu'il croit que j'ai oublié, ou que je n'ai pas forcément le temps de réaliser ce tableau,
mais bien sûr je n'ai pas oublié et je vais profiter de sa venue à Noël pour glisser le tableau parmi ses affaires...

Alors voici pour l'origine de cette peinture,

passons maintenant à sa réalisation, ou tout au moins aux étapes jusqu'à maintenant

et je vous le montrerai dans son integralité lorsqu'il sera terminé demain

So of course everything started with a drawing in pencil made on a simple white sheet ...

Alors bien sûr tout a commencé avec un dessin réalisé sur une simple feuille blanche au crayon...

I then put a layer of white Gesso on my page to prepare it to receive my painting
I colored it with a water-soluble wax pastel Neocolor II from Caran d'Ache
which I then spread the color with a wet brush

J'ai ensuite passé une couche de Gesso blanc sur ma page pour la préparer à recevoir ma peinture
je l'ai colorié avec un pastel à la cire hydrosoluble Neocolor II de Caran d'Ache
dont j'ai ensuite étalé la couleur avec un pinceau humide

I then worked the shadows with a Pitt Artist Pen from Faber Castell
and blend with a Q-tip

J'ai ensuite travaillé les ombres avec un feutre Pitt Artist Pen de Faber Castell
et je me sers d'un coton tige pour étaler la couleur et l'intégrer parfaitement

then outlined with an ultra fine tip 0.05

je repasse les traits avec une pointe ultra fine 0,05

For the little monkey, I drew him first in my computer, in order for me to print him at the perfect size to fit in the picture with the elephant...
Once my page printed and a layer of gesso applied, I then realize the colorization in the same way and with the same tools, different colors of course ;-)

Pour le petit singe, je l'ai d'abord dessiné sur mon ordinateur, pour que je puisse l'imprimer à la taille parfaite pour s'adapter dans l'image avec l'éléphant ...
Une fois ma page imprimée et une couche de gesso appliquée, Je réalise alors la colorisation de la même façon et avec les même outils, de couleurs différentes bien sûr ;-)

Now that my characters are ready I cut them very carefully around ...

Maintenant que mes personnages sont prêts je les découpe très soigneusement autour...

I then make my background on a very thick cardboard that I previously painted with two layers of white Gesso
Again my Neocolor II serve me here, and I block areas of colors,
I then wipe the color through stencils with a slightly wet rag to create patterns according to my desires ... 😊
I also added some words that I tore from a sheet in a magazine and stuck on my board ...
Je réalise ensuite mon arrière plan sur un un carton très épais que j'ai préalablement peint de deux couches de Gesso blanc
A nouveau mes Neocolor II me servent ici, et je bloque des zones de couleurs,
j'essuye la couleur avec un chiffon légèrement humide à travers des pochoirs afin de créer des motifs au gré de mes envies...😊
J'ai aussi ajouté quelques mots que j'ai déchirés d'une feuille de magazine et collés sur mon carton ...
