Hello everyone!
First of all I have an announcement: I will be doing a 1 month daily drawing challenge starting in July. Everyday I will share a post with my drawings for that day. I will start on 1st of July. I will also resteem an art post daily by other creators, not counting my brother's posts (ivan-g).
I'm doing this because I want to work more on my drawing skills, but that means less time for text. Instead I will share my favorite songs and some fascinating facts, some occasional poems and more. I will try to keep each post at least a bit unique.
My biggest worry is that people will lose interest after a first few days of daily posting, like it was was with the daily dragons a couple of months ago. That's why I'm setting a 1 month limit for the challenge (maximum 2), to practice my endurance regardless of the posts' payouts.
The general theme I will be working on is Mermaids! I plan to do lots of fish and anatomy studies, portraits, breasts, scales and more. And of course many Mermaid designs and a few very detailed illustrations.
This method of drawing may be useful for art students. This is because in the end you have a complete project that can be shown on its own. Moreover, by focusing on a specific theme, you learn faster and more effectively.
I like changing things around every few months. This keeps me more motivated and lowers my stress levels. Also I will prepare a more detailed plan and share it on Saturday so that I can reference it in my posts. For those who don't like small posts, I will occasionally make a more detailed compilation post, to self reflect on my progress.
About the Art
When drawing imaginary creatures like dragons, it's extremely useful to use nature for reference. The most difficult part of drawing dragons for me is the wings. So some time ago I did some bird studies and read a bit about wings. I planned to also do bat studies as their wings are more often used in dragon art.
I got started by collecting some references on pinterest and I pinned them all to one board for future reference. Then I did the simple pencil sketches. After the sketches I used a 0.1 ink pen, for finer details.
I started with the outline of the bat then the details like body and wing fingers.
Finally I did the whole body shading. I tried a few variations of shading like in one direction or several directions, even random shading. When I felt done, I erased the pencil sketches underneath, for a nice and clean result.
Based on my previous bird studies I tried drawing some dragons. This is still work in progress!
Some Interesting Bat Facts
• Bats can live more than 30 years and can fly at speeds of up to 60 mph.
• Some bats can eat up to 1,200 mosquitoes in an hour
• Most bats have only one pup a year
• Bats are grouped into two main groups -- the large fruit eating bats (also known as "flying foxes" or "megabats") and the smaller bats ("microbats") who eat insects, blood, fish, lizards, birds and nectar.
• Bats are the only mammals that can fly.

Extra
Today is my Steemit birthday and I'm tired of being a plankton! So I've been asking around for SP from inactive Steemians, I plan to ask a few everyday. :) I know most won't see the comments, but I have hope ^^
There are so many awesome posts I want to upvote! So any amount of delegated SP is greatly appreciated, no matter how small <3
I could offer some rewards for delegating, please let me know what would you like? :D
My Other Content
Also I'm a bit impatient person, so I actually made a Steemit bday compilation post about a month ago xD You can read it here.
This week I'm holding a fun poetry contest , you can check it out here! I will continue holding the random weekly contests throughout the month of July.
