another step of my work in progress: working on the background

Today I worked on the background. 

After the first coats in cerulean blue that I painted 2 days ago, I used a mix of  sap green and burnt umber to make the right glaze to the background

Using a shades more dark than the first, I hightened the contrast between the characters and their background to focus on their shapes.

I also wanted a "motion" on the background and so I painted some little roses, using simple touches of ocher color.

In the following pics you can see the step and the coats in sap green/burnet umber that I painted over the previous color, so you can see the change. The previous cerulean blue was enaugh fresh and so the shade f te new colors it's really interesting for me.

Now, I need to wait that the panting is a bit dry before to paint some details and some other glazes.
