In school we were asked to make a drawing of a shoe. I choose to draw this sandal. It was a good choise for I could practice drawing different fabrics. I used different pencils H4-B8.
For drawing the suede imitation I choose B2 for the first layer and B4/B6 for the second layer depending on the light situation. For the leather imitatioon I chose a B4 for the first layer and finished with B8 to get this real dark shade.
For the cork bed I used different light pencils H2/H/HB to create this light but still visible patterns and the shaddow parts.
To draw gems it is also useful to use those hard pencils because they allow you to show small details.
Wich leads us to the smallest detail, the seam. I found that is was a good taktic to draw them before you do the surrounding fabric because then they shine out more. You have to sharpen your pencil before starting with the seam and sharpen it a lot during the process .
