The Kingfisher! Acrylic painting process.

I present you all with my most recent painting of the beautiful bird the Kingfisher. Here are some of the progress photos of how I reached the end product.

Started with a light sketch using white chalk and then applied the darker layers of colors working my way up towards the lighter hues.

After I had the basic bird design I decided to fill the background with a pattern I really enjoy doing. It reminds me of cells.
I also started with the darker tone and worked up towards a brighter green to give it a glowing effect. I really like making my paintings pop and look as if they emmit their own source of light.
