Last week someone called @stellabelle initiated a new Steem project called Banana Program. In case you're thinking to participate in it, let me warn you that it's a crazy, stupid program and can harm your personality in more ways than you may think of. Let me list out some of the criticisms against the program here in detail:
Awful: It projects you as a bored person
Are you really a bored person or wanna like to be called one? This program categorically terms you as a "bored human" and declares this in its post-title itself as:
BANANA PROGRAM: New Steem Project Designed For Bored Humans
So be careful of your personal image while participating in it.
Mindless: Needs downloading an app every week
To participate every week, you will need to download Partiko app as your first task. But since you already downloaded it last week, it becomes 2 tasks as you first need to uninstall and then download it again. And if you do that, you will feel like a stupid yourself.
Deceptive: More tasks than initial committment
Since there are only 3 syllables in the word banana, it was declared that there will be only 3 tasks each week. But this week, it had more tasks:
- Uninstall Partiko App
- Download Partiko App
- Welcome New Steemians
- Make your own phone ...and take a selfie with it
- Make a video ...and upload it
So these are at least 5 tasks i.e. there needs to be 5 vowels in banana. This is going to stretch and disfigure the word banana into banananana (speak it loud and feel the difference).
Intrusive: Intrudes your privacy
The recent task of this program needs you to make your private affair public. You will need to make a video of yourself calling a long lost friend and upload it here for everyone to view that. Can you share your intimate moments with your best friend here?
I know some people come to blockchain for anonymity but what's that?
Disruptive: Adversely impact banana economy
Many people are going to buy bananas to participate in this program. This will lead to its scarcity, resulting in steep increase in its market price. This is the only fruit accessible to poor man like me. If it too goes beyond my affordability, I may starve to death. Who will be responsible for my death? Yes, this silly Banana Program and YOU!
Discriminative: It's racist
At first glance, this Banana Program looks interesting, probably because we all love bananas. Initially, I too was keen to take part in it. But since it requires some dapp to be downloaded, you will need a smart phone for it. I didn't had one. So I went to buy one. The salesman told me I can't buy it as it's a SMART phone. I told him its fine. I ain't interested in any smart phone if he could download this app in a stupid phone. But he denied!!!
It was very insulting to me.
Devilish: Winners are devoured
It's not all. If you still participated and somehow your entry is declared a winner, you may be humiliated, undressed, packaged in a banana peel and devoured. Check the last available image of the recent winner:
Banana Boycott: The way ahead
To all you sensible and wonderful people, who have decided not to participate in Banana Program, I invite you to join me for #bananaboycott. Below are some tasks which you would need to perform to join #bananaboycott:
- Crush a banana with your fist with intense anger on your face and take a selfie.
- Go to a banana vendor and explain him / her why you won't buy a banana from him / her today. Capture this on a video.
- Make a poster to warn others from participating in the Banana Program and post it on your blog.
Complete this 3 tasks for the week-1 boycott and you will feel blessed for doing some good to others.
