This beer from Spokane, Washington is a different take on the brown ale format from that of Big Sky's Moose Drool. The malty body has a citrus bite and seems a bit more bitter thanks to the different hops used, but it's by no means overpowering in either respect.
As another example of microbrewing innovation, I appreciate the relatively restrained bitterness of this brew. Hops are often overdone in northwestern ales, and while this is fairly well hopped, it doesn't seem overpowering like some others that I have tried. This seems to have enough to temper the malt sweetness and add a unique character without going overboard. However, it may be just a bit more than expected for someone accustomed to a more traditional brown ale. Or maybe not. I'm no expert on the type. I would suggest giving this a try if you find it though. It earns my stamp of approval, for whatever that's worth!
