BJJ White Belt Curriculum - Week 3, Class 3

white-belt curriculum1.jpg

I am about to head off to Saturday training and reviewing a little basics to share before I go. I don't know many better ways to start the weekend then a couple hours of hard training to earn the brunch we go and grab as a group. The restaurant knows us well with our wet hair, funny ears and gym smell by this point.

If the Guard is core to old skool BJJ, Passing the Guard is equally as traditional and effective. In this installment of the White Belt Curriculum, Ryan goes through a few simple and very effective passes I use all the time.

Personal take-aways:

  1. A good base is invaluable when in the guard to feel safer and help defend and pass.
  2. Staple pass with the BJJ details from a background in wrestling is such a natural and powerful pass.
  3. Having Staple/Knee Through/Stack connected in your mind gives you options no matter what defense is being thrown up.
  4. With the sniffles and coughs, we REALLY need some spring and summer!

Let me know what you think or what questions you have in comments as I revisit these posts often. Share with anyone you want and help create stronger training partners. Adopt a white belt often!
