The art of Star Wars the Old Republic. Sketching for future artpieces - concept art

Playing your favorite on-line games have you ever thought about how they were created? How the characters appeared, and how they looked before came to your screen?

This is how the characters look when all the work is already done. All the volume and color is here. Or like this:) These are fulfilled pictures for the game promo.

But the truth is that in the very beginning they look like this:

Seaching the shape and adding details, to make the character recognizable is a really important process in concepr art. OK, for concept art it's everything that is really important. How will he/she look? What in his profession? What can we tell about him when we look at him?

The work of concept artist is to create all these things and make the character recognizable.

This picture is a classic example of concept art. But it's a finished piece, and in process of creating the armor was changing, the head was changing, everything was in seeking for the best solution. A Mandalore sketch by Paul Adam.

Here you can see the author of the pic, so I will not sighn the name here.

I try to have so many concept art albums in my collection as I can. It's really useful to look into them from time to time, to refresh your visual series. To create something new an artist much have a lot of something old in his head, haha:)

Thank you for watching:)

Love, Inber
