On May 1st in the year 3019 in Middle Earth the kings returned to Minas Tirith as the ranger Aragorn was crowned King of Gondor. With the power of Mordor and the threat of Sauron defeated King Elessar Telcontar, his name translated as Elfstone Strider was crowned and the rule of the Stewards ended.
Unkown to the people of Gondor when he arrived with the army of the dead to break the seige of Gondor he was recognised as the king returned when he went to the house of healing to treat those effected by the dark magic of Mordor. It was said of old that:
"The hands of the King are the hands of a healer, and so shall the rightful king be known"
The new king also weilded the reforged sword of King Elendil, Narsil, that weilded by his son Isildur cut the ring from Saurons hand during the battle before Mount Doom during the last alliance of Elf and men. The reforged sword was renamed Anduril, the Flame of the West.
"Very bright was that sword when it was made whole again; the light of the sun shone redly in it, and the light of the moon shone cold, and its edge was hard and keen. And Aragorn gave it a new name and called it Andúril, Flame of the West."
—J.R.R. Tolkien.
So, one this day we celebrate the Return of the King to Gondor.
