The Coronado Farmers Market in California is doing double duty for me today. This post is for the MarketFriday weekly event by @dswigle and for the weekly MyCalifornia Contest by @socalsteemit.
This was my Tuesday market for the many years I lived in Coronado. I used to work in the place it was held for some of those years and so could just get up from my desk and go out to the parking lot.
Later I drove up in my car from another job. Later still, after I lost "half my size" and all of my marbles, I used to ride my bike from home.
It's a small market by the waterfront of San Diego Bay. In the background of this shot your can see a large container ship "Pasha Hawaii" passing by. But I'm looking at the oranges at $4 for 5 pounds or $7 for 10 pounds. Luxury!
Huge pomegranates for 75 cents apiece, so you know this shot is in December. And I wish I had those wonderful limes and lemons for $2 a bag. For some reason the citrus here in SE Asia is a bit disappointing and usually more expensive.
And raw honey for cheap! This used to be a staple in my house. The bee pollen was always in my freezer too. $3 for a huge bag of persimmons. Now I'm drooling.
These beautiful flowers were sold by a pair of twin men who no longer attend. They were both so nice and the flowers were always lovely and fresh. I only took photos and I send this shot to people who are sad on the internet. It usually cheers them up!
These were my weekly egg buy. So fresh and $5 a dozen.
Apples without poison! Such a treat. I would go up and down this stall eating apple samples until I decided which very expensive fruit to buy.
This is where I got my greens and veggies. The young lady is showing me a mutant corn. You cannot really tell how odd it was by my bad photo, but it was not something you would want to eat. It's glowing for an unknown reason.
Here's my bike again. I miss it. My neighbor gave it to me for free when I lost weight. I was shocked to find I knew how to ride it. I stopped at age 11 when I was too fat and too embarrassed to ride. It's true that you don't forget and I had fun with this thing.
Cheap organic tomatoes I love but cannot eat. They are inflammatory and my Rheumatoid Arthritis lets me know it.
But I bought 1 each of the $3 squash in the background and chowed down!
So there you have a bit of the life I used to lead. It seems very far away now and I guess it is. This might be Part One of many. I have a lot of photos of this place. It's time I got my photos off the hard drive and out into the world where they might be of interest to someone else but me :)
I'm a proud member of SocalSteemit. Bringing Southern California to you from no matter where I am!

It is that time of year when the fitness equipment is out and the diet books are being read. I lost "Half My Size" eight years ago by using natural methods, and you can too!
