Happy New Year to all my fellow Steemians! I hope you're having great times and 2018 treats everyone well.
As the clock rolled past midnight, I spent the evening at my drafting table. Now, before you go praising my dedication and work ethic... just know that there is a healthy does of antisocial introversion at play in my personality... so not too much credit needs to be given to me for "resisting the urge" to party the night away.
I don't call it a resolution, but it was nice to feel like I was starting the year off on the right foot, working at a place and task that will hopefully be a major part of the year to come.
I'm continuing to work on a possible cover for "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." #1. I want a good, finished, polished & professional promotional piece to get things started right and remind myself that I am capable of making comics! I left off for the evening finally nearing the end of the "penciling" stage.

If you followed along with "I Thought It Would Be Zombies..." Comic Creation Update #1, you may recall seeing a tiny preview of this piece as I worked on developing the cover corner box. The work I had done to date on that I ended up converting to a light blue line sketch, laying a new layer on top and re penciling from scratch. I better refined the facial expressions, changed some details on the car, began adding some background, and completely reworked the pose on the character of Julie.
Here's a better look at the previous image in case you'd like to play a game of "spot the differences."

It won't be long now until I'm onto the inking stage! But I'm really excited to see this with some color. That's going to play a big part in this image and comic in general. I'll be doing my best in this story to portray an apocalypse that while devastating, can also be stunningly beautiful.
My goal is to have a completed first issue by the end of 2018. But it's not a resolution! Just a goal... However I do have an extra bit of motivation in the works that I'll elaborate on in the near future, stay tuned! This column will continue to update on progress and give fans and fellow creators a glimpse into the process all year.
