A couple of weeks ago I asked what @thefreshfive account should do with the SBD earned from our posts, and contests to support new Steemians was a popular options.
In the future, these contest posts will be posted directly from the Fresh Five account. But considering my account has greater reach at this time, I wanted to try to get maximum exposure for the first couple of contests. All SBD from Fresh Five Contest Posts will be sent to @thefreshfive in the form of STEEM as prizes for future contests. Once we have a good following on the Fresh Five for these contests I will move the announcement posts to that account.
So Let's Get To It
Some of you may remember way back in the recesses of your mind that at one point I was running a writing contest called the "Plain Mike Writing Contest". In it, I found a piece of art from one of our fellow Steemians and used it as a prompt for people to write a fictional story. I'm going with the same process here, and with a new pool of artists to draw great works from as prompts. The art will come directly from users who are members of the @slothicorn community. We may follow the same sort of setup that @gmuxx uses with the Writer's Block challenge, where one week is a challenge for new art, and the second week is fiction based on that art.
Actually... as I think about it, that may be exactly what I do, but try to make it alternate weeks from what @gmuxx is doing, so on the week they are doing writing we are doing art, and on the week they are doing art we do writing. That would give people the opportunity to participate in both contests without being overwhelmed.
So there... I typed out a plan. I am not sure what the format of that contest is, but we are going to work Sunday to Sunday, with new contests being announced sometime late Sunday and submissions due by midnight Eastern Time on the following Sunday.
Our First Prompt
I wanted to feature one of the members of the @slothicorn community who has been working really hard on her art. Our first art prompt comes from @alexandravart. I went back a ways in to her art history and found something some people might not have seen for awhile. I really like this picture as a prompt, as there are many questions that you can ask about this young woman as a character to write about.
Some things you could look at here:
Is this figure living or dead?
What is the fabric covering her? Doesn't really look like it is clothing... so what is it.
Why is she in the middle of a field?
All of these and more are things you can explore.
