Tree Guessing Game for my 200 Followers - Win 30 SBD!

Congratulations and Thank You!

Yeah, a major milestone has been reached, and it wouldn't have been possible without each and every one of you! Okay, I know, a number is just a number, but it seems like 200 followers is more celebrated than the first hundred  (which in my case I totally missed) so I want to make sure to organize something for the big two-oh-oh! And yes, I'm three followers shy of the 200... but I'm certain they'll be here too before this game ends.

Let's Have a Pop-Quiz!

What better way to celebrate than by having a little contest, of course with some SBD you can win? I don't have too much at this point, but there should be more next time. Maybe for the 500-follower threshold?

The puzzle is a simple matching exercise I actually used in a modified form on facebook once, about a year ago. It was a raging success (NOT!), with two participants! (If any of you two are reading this, please understand that I can't let you play. Sorry! The rest of the world is welcome and encouraged!) This time I hope there's gonna be a lot more of you guys at least trying your luck.

If you had a careful look at my blog, particularly the entry about Vancouver Island, or if you know your coniferous trees quite well, this quiz should be a piece of cake. Naturally, I removed the information for the time being, it will be up again once this contest is finished.

How to play?

In order to participate all I'm asking you to do is:

  1. upvote this post
  2. resteem this post
  3. reply with whatever you think is the correct answer, within the next 24 after I posted this, that is before July 9th at 7:00 p.m. Central Time (GMT-5).

Additionally, if you think you'd like to follow me, that's always appreciated, though it's completely up to you. It's not a requirement for this game. However, since it is most interesting with many players, resteeming it is. Thank you very much!

On to the Questions:

The picture features branches of the coniferous giants I encountered on beautiful Vancouver Island last year. Your job is to match each one with the name – or characteristics – of the trees given below:

  1. Amabilis Fur
  2. great structural timber
  3. lovely smell, good for outdoor use, excellent kindling
  4. Western Hemlock
  5. this one is partially edible and has a pleasant sound
  6. Grand Fur
  7. Yew
  8. often used for furniture

Send me a reply with whatever you think is the best answer. You can keep it to the minimum, a list of letters with their corresponding numbers, or you can go into all the detail you want, adding the names of the trees, or additional info, if you think you know them. Extra information is great, though they won't affect your results of the matching. If you changed your mind once you've submitted an answer, send a reply to your reply. I will count the last reply of each participant as their final answer.

You can keep guessing for a whole day. I am going to close it 24 hours after posting this contest and declare the winners. That will be July 9th at 7:00 p.m. Central Time (GMT-5).

Great Prizes to Win:

The first person to get all eight matches right will receive the top prize of 30 SBD (!!!) If nobody gets all 8 right, the first price is lost. (Sorry guys, but given the number of options, someone should get it all perfect.)

The second price of 15 SBD goes to the second person who matches all eight without errors. If there is only one person to do so (they will of course get the first prize), the second price will be given to the first person who gets 6 out of 8 right (that is one miss-match). If there is nobody to get all 8 correct, NOR anyone to get only one miss-match, the second price is lost as well. In this case I may cry a little, though I'm sure that's quite unlikely. Someone is bound the get at least six correct matches!

The third price of 10 SBD goes to the third person to have a perfect score of 8/8, or the second person to get 6/8 (only one miss-match) if nobody gets a perfect match. In case of the same unlikely event that nobody gets 8/8 NOR 6/8, I am going to declare the person with the best answer winner. They will receive a consolation price of 5 SBD, and I'm going to cry a lot... then get over it, and go back to posting stuff about toilets.

The results are in, you can see them here
