Eating frogs, 3D Printing and Get Shit Done contest update.

If you haven't seen my Get Shit Done contest where I am giving away 500 Steem Power for 4 weeks, have a look! This is an update to the contest and my own progress.

I see a lot of people working on their frogs, and a couple of participants have already finished. Remember you have until September 20th to finish and post your results. Before and after photos or videos are ideal but I understand this isn't possible for every task. I will pick the top three winners shortly after the deadline and announce them here. So if you don't follow me, hit that follow button or check back often!

My own frog has been getting my 3D printer up and running again. I was printing around the clock nearly 24/7 for a few months, but I went on vacation to the family lake house and haven't got back to it. The main reason is I recently did a very big upgrade to my printer and it was having problems. It was a re-occurring problem that required some teardown and time to fix. The upgrade bushings I was using are constantly giving me problems and I was hoping the new build would fix it. When it didn't, I was so burnt out I just put it on hold.

Today I decided I will eat my own frog and get er done. I tore the bed down, pulled out the bearing mounts and replaced the Igus Bearings with stock bushings. Put it back together, and was back in business. The prints that followed were some of the best prints I have done so far. I finally get to see if all the work I put into heavily modifying the printer accounts for. I can say I am quite happy with the results and having my printer back.

After tearing the bed down, and rebuilding I burned finger trying to level the bed.

My current goal is to get some toys (unicorn and a hedgehog) for my neighbor's kids using my new Starry Night filament. I can already tell this stuff is difficult to print with, so it will take a few tries to get the settings dialed in.

I am hoping to start my HyperCube Evolution project soon, building a high-speed 3D printer from scratch. This is going to be a much bigger project than my aluminum frame modification was. I will need to order every part individually (around 800 individual parts) and build it from scratch. I am debating about a 300mmx300mm bed or my preferred option of 400mmx400mm bed.
