Coffee House Cups illustration series 1

preview.png

Once upon a time I've got really interesting order from one of the biggest Russian coffee shop networks: Coffee House. There were few reasons why I was excited to get it:

  • Yet another well-known brand in my portfolio
  • No strict task means experiments
  • Interesting curved layout shape with distortion after printing
  • Good budget

Reference and sketch

So I've started to create some sketches immediately. Usually I am collecting nice shots and different illustrations to my Inspirations folder and I had this portrait of my friend which I was thinking to draw once there would be suitable commercial for it. So here you are, do it!

After that my client sent me the cup layout with all the marks and I've continued to work right inside that shape. Wanted to make sleepy girl look more visible and recognizable there.

Coloring the cup

Once I've done coloring my client told me it's too dark and depressive which I disagree but since they've ordered I had to change it with losing as less as possible to keep it cool looking.

So in final I've changed the back color to more orange like. You can see it on the shots below. It was so cool to get such photos from my friends and strangers through the whole Russia. This white nail makes me go wild by the way!
