So many of us have the character trait of being self-demanding or autoexigent, criticizing and judging ourselves harshly for making mistakes, not moving forward fast enough, not fulfilling our dreams.
Many times, the antidote to autoexigence is self-congratulation. For the smallest things that we do right, we can praise ourselves, being kind and patient to ourselves, celebrating whatever tiny successes we have.
For example, if a person has little direction in life, he might praise himself just for doing a few tasks a day - exercising for 20 minutes and writing a few lines. By moving forward in whatever small way, he can call his day a success.
