My Answer To ecoTrain's Question Of The Week: Abundance Woes

Hello my fellow Steemian's! So this post is my answer to the ecoTrain's question of the week, which can be found in this post, Abundance Woes. I am sure a lot of us have had this issue. Especially in the New World. Abundance could be a blessing, or a curse. For instance, having an abundance of food can be a blessing, for you will never run out. But what if you have so much food, and it spoils before you can even consume it? So is it a blessing, or a curse? It really depends on how you handle your abundance.

To much of a good thing?

Since I have a perpetual grow utilizing cloning to keep the cycle going, I always end up with a over flow of plants! This is due to my small space, and I always make sure to take enough so I will guarantee a strain will not be lost. Starting from seed is a long process. Another downside from starting from seed, is a cannabis plant can be a male. For those that are unfamiliar with what I am talking about, a male produces pollen sacs, and a female produces the flower that all cannabis smokers love. Cloning is not only a faster process, but if you clone from a good female, that cut will be the exact copy of the mother.

Ok back to my answer. So all this cloning I do creates an abundance of plants. With very little room I am unable to use them all. How do I deal with this?

1. Throw plants outside

This first solution is not the most viable. This is largely in part of my back yard not getting the proper amount of sun. Cannabis needs more then 12 hours of light, if it gets 12 hours of dark, it will start to flower. Only 1 month out of the year, do I get the proper amount of sun light to keep a plant from flowering. But the plus of being able to throw a few out in my little back yard is making seeds. I have male pollen stored, and I will use it to pollinate the females. Not only is this fun, but making seeds is really an empowering thing. Especially when it comes to cannabis, seeds can be very expensive! Look out in the next couple weeks, I will make a post about making seeds. :)

2. Gift

This is my favorite solution to my abundance of my cannabis plants!! It is also something I can do year round. Cannabis clones can cost anywhere from 5$-25$, and don't get me started about the high prices at the dispensary's for medicine! Not only am I gifting a wonderful herb, I am also giving the gift of growing, which can supply someone with a good amount of flower.

My abundance woe, is a blessing

Which I am very great full for. If I had no backyard, or did not give, I would have to just kill my extra plant's. Which has never been an option. Also my handling of the situation is a key part to my perpetual grow. Having to many plants in a small space can cause many issues, like mold, and not growing to a good size. Also me taking more then what I need ensures I have plants to keep the cycle going. Everything has it's purpose in life, just like the saying goes, "One man's garbage, is another man's treasure."

Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish, he will eat for a lifetime.
