How to Remember Names: Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury)

The Person

Like always we begin with the anchor point for the person. For Samuel we could use his bold head. In fact we can do that for both his alter ego as well as himself. But like we did with all super hero actors so far, we alwas use their famous role instead of their real look. So we will use Nick Fury's eye patch.

Wie immer beginnen wir mit dem Ankerpunkt für die Person. Für Samuel könnten wir seine Glatze verwenden. Aber wie mit allen Superhelden-Schauspielern zuvor, nehmen wir stattdessen sein Aussehen in seiner berühmten Rolle. Deshalb werden wir Nick Fury's Augenklappe benutzen.

First Name: Samuel

I didn't come up with a phonetically similar word for Samuel right away. Words like same, SIM, semi came to mind, which are all rubbish. Luckily I had the epiphony to use the word Samurai. I love the fact that it shares the first four letters with his name.

Für seinen Vornamen ist mir spontan kein phonetisch ähnliches Wort eingefallen. Auf Deutsch könnte man Samen, zahm, Saum verwenden, aber so richtig gut ist das nicht. Zum Glück fiel mir dann der Samurai ein, der ziemlich perfekt als Bild ist.

Family Name: Jackson

His family name wasn't super easy either. You could use the words cheque, Jack-in-the-Box, Jackal or Jaguar. They are all pretty good. But in the end I decided to go with the word jigsaw beacuse it sounds very similar.

Sein Familienname war auch nicht besonders leicht. Mir sind Wörter wie Scheck, Jack-in-the Box, Jackal (Schakal) und Jaguar eingefallen. Am Ende habe ich mich für jigsaw (Puzzle) entschieden, da es fast genau so klingt.

The Memory Story

Nick Fury found the legendary Samurai armor (from another world?). But it is broken into thousand jigsaw puzzle pieces. He puts it all together but the final piece he is hiding behind his eye patch because it is too powerful in the wrong hands.

Nick Fury hat die legendäre Samurai Rüstung (von einer anderen Welt?) gefunden. Doch sie ist in tausend jigsaw Puzzle-Teile zerbrochen. Er setzt sie Stück für Stück wieder zusammen, aber versteckt das letzte Teil in seiner Augenklappe.
