Nested between the mountains in a bowl shaped area in the Spiti Valley, the barren mountains of Langza at an altitude of around 4000 meters above sea level leaves everyone speechless.
Langza village is divided into two sections, namely Langza Yongma (lower) and Langza Gongma (upper).
Langza is a place with ancient monastries and fossils.
The main attraction of Langza village is the huge statue of lord buddha.
This statue is the first thing that you'll see when you are about to reach Langza.
One of the villager told that it took around 5 years to complete this statue.
People collect fossils from the village as a token from this village.
Fossils of marine creatures and plants are found under the rocks.
These fossils are around millions of years old.
In Langza fossils are named as 'Chaudua' and to find a fossil, one can go up hills and search them under the rocks.
The population of Langza village is approximately 137, people there are dependent on agriculture and business for their livelihood.
