In this post I’m going to share some photos I took of some Halloween décor while out shopping and the story of my very first Halloween Trick or Treating. I will start with my story which goes back many years ago. I was looking forward to trick or treating as it was my first time and, of course, the candy. My mom got me a Sleeping Beauty costume. I don’t know why but she also got my sister the same costume. Kid you not, the very first house this was a problem. You see, my sister was at the front of the line (I have a lot of siblings) and I was at the back. When it was my turn to get a treat, the lady that answered the door said; “I’m sorry, but I already gave you a piece of candy”. So, here I am probably six or seven years old and was denied a measly piece of candy. Mind you, it wasn’t the lady’s fault as my sister had the same costume. Anyway, my older sister stepped up and, nicely, pointed out to the lady that there was, indeed, two Sleeping Beauties in the group. She was apologetic and I was happy that my older sister spoke up for me. Skip ahead to the third house we went up to. The old guy had to check out the costumes and remarked about my long blonde hair and if it was real. Duh, back then costumes were pretty simple and it was a plastic mask with plastic hair but he proceeded to yank on my hair. He yanked on it quite a bit and pretty hard which caused me to cry and my sister again stepped in. That wasn’t even the worst of it though as when he handed out candy, it was candy corn. I absolutely hated candy corn back then. ..ugh!! Things went much better after those first few houses though and when we got home, my siblings and I sorted our candies and they taught me about checking for anything suspicious looking as even back then there were stories of pills and razor blades in stuff. All was good and then we would have a big trade off. Gives me a laugh to this day thinking about the sorting and trading. Oh, and I never did trick or treat at that third house after that first time. Wasn’t gonna put myself through that again for some yucky candy corn! 😉

Last night we decided to order pizza from Papa John’s and got this pumpkin pizza. It was cute and yummy but see how it took on a different look after we cut it. It comes uncut as Papa John’s didn’t want to “smash the pumpkin”.
