Finally we've made it! Autoupdate is ready! It looks like so usual function which any app should have by default. Yes, that's true. But even that have to be implemented before it is becoming usual.

Seamless Updates

Now you don't have to worry about updates and don't have to do same routine opening our git, downloading and installing it again and again. Once you're updated to 1.0.5 Surfer will update itself on its own.

When update is ready Surfer will show notification window and you can update right from that window. Here is short clip showing it in action:

Word Counter

We've added much needed word counter for those who care writing longer articles or participating in contests with particular rules on amount of words. It's located right under the app header in a post editor mode.

Connect to Mobile

For those who want to quickly connect on mobile we've added QR-codes with posting, active, owner and memo keys together with QR-links to download eSteem Mobile if you don't have it installed yet.

Deep linking

You can now open most post/page with Surfer by changing any Steemit url in your browser address bar as follows:

https://steemit.com/trending to steem://trending or esteem://trending

https://steemit.com/test/@demo/test to steem://test/@demo/test or esteem://test/@demo/test

https://steemit.com/@good-karma to steem://@good-karma or esteem://@good-karma.

If you have Surfer installed on your machine, your system will automatically detect it and offer you to open page in app, cool isn't it?! We are working to extend this protocol support further... Stay tuned for future updates.

Jumping from 1.0.3 to 1.0.5

We were testing autoupdate feature & 1.0.4 test release was public for couple of hours. I've seen that one of our users caught it and wrote a post about it. And that's the only reason why we are jumping from 1.0.3 straight to 1.0.5

What is eSteem Surfer

It's a desktop client you can use on Windows, Mac or Linux to surf your steem friends feed/trending/hot/etc pages, upvote, comment, read replies, do all the other major Steem related stuff in your daily social surfing as well as wallet actions and of course few extras: search, discover different tags etc.
