DRAGONFLIES & DAMSELFLIES COLLECTION 2019 🌸😊🌸

Hello my Dearest Friends,

This year was my lucky year regarding capturing dragonfly. We have lots of them here and they always fly around everywhere I go, but coming up on one sitting down is almost a miracle.

However, my prayers were answered this year and beautiful PRINCE BASKET TAIL Dragonfly was sunbathing on my neighbor's rosebud. I tried to remain calm and began photographing her from the distance, because I was expecting her to flyway soon as I come closer. But to my big surprise she didn't and thank God she stayed, because only the last photos were good, lol.

Anyway I am sharing couple photos that I took few days prior to that in our backyard, although these are not so good. This dragonfly was a lot smaller and her wings had only tiny spots, which seems to be Common Basket Tail. That one also stayed a while, but it was very windy and she was sitting too high.

And now, few photos of DAMSELFLIES, that some people mistaking for Dragonflies. Well as you can see on the photos, they are much smaller, but in reality the size is even more noticeable. Damselflies are so tiny, that if you are not looking for them you may not even see them. Also, the shape of their head is completely different, they fold their wings next to their bodies while sitting down and usually you can find them close to a ground, around tall ornamental grass or plants around water. I never see them flying above my head, lol.

I found them in the garden on lilac and succulent plants. It's not easy to photograph them neither, because they are so tiny and also they literary disappear front of your eyes, lol. Do good thing though is that they usually just land somewhere near by so you can try again, if you can spot them, lol.

This is my entry for #insectpub & #butterflyday hosted by lovely @whatisnew. For more information please read HERE.
