Imperfectu App: The Path To An Inclusive Tijuana (Mexico)

Nowadays diversity in gender identities and sexual orientations is more visible worldwide. Because of this, it is necessary that cities prepare to become places open to diversity and respectful to differences.

Unfortunately Tijuana has stayed behind and it is not considered a gay and queer friendly destination on the Mexican map. Aware of this reality, the organizers of Imperfectu Festival are trying to develop Imperfectu App: an application that will allow Tijuana citizens and tourists find inclusive places and events in Tijuana, spots where any individual feels free of any type of discrimination.

Through an Indiegogo campaign, Imperfectu team is looking for the support of the society in order to make this application possible. Donations can be made with a minimum of 10 dollars, and there is no maximum limit. Just access app.imperfectu.com and donate.

This application is backed up by Imperfectu Festival, which began two years ago and is currently the only film and gender studies festival in the northwest of Mexico. Since its creation in 2014, it has maintained itself with its organizers' resources and the support of various institutions and brands. However, this is not enough anymore. With what is donated, it will be possible not only to develop Imperfectu App but also to keep the festival alive.

This application will allow the users to rate places such as restaurants, coffee shops, associations, institutions, clubs, festivals, and more. Therefore, it will be a guide for those who visit the city looking for an inclusive community. It also promotes Tijuana as a city for everyone, making it a safe place for tourists with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.

Thanks to Imperfectu App, many places will appear in a platform that will provide bilingual information for their clients, as well as the possibility to order online or to buy tickets: all of this in one app.

Imperfectu is a platform that combines cinema, academia, art, and activism, in order to create a festival that explores topics related to the body, sexuality, and gender. Behind the festival, there is a team that has worked with its own resources, motivated by the love they have towards this project. Today, nevertheless, they need society's collaboration through its donations.
