We met at a Festival, we got Married at a Festival and we Birthday like life is a Festival...
Like every good party, we gave it a name: Jessi's Enchanted Forest Birthday Campout
We started out by walking the property to find the right spot to throw a party. We have this big valley and thought we could do it there, the soundsystems would be muffled for the neighbors. It's a deep valley and being that both Jess and I aren't very good at delegating... we're so bad, we didn't eben invite anyone to come early to help us set up!!!!
So we set it up in the forest above the valley, and it's a good thing we did because there was a lot of back and forth getting all we needed for the outdoor kitchen! It would have been way too much work going up and down our treacherous path...
We did what we could the week before. It's a little slow with a threenager but we also take time to play... I'd feel bad working all the time!
Expecting rain the whole weekend we decided to tarp high up over the fire and the dance floor:
And Friday came, the day my queen's Festival Birthday started... with that came a thunder storm that lasted all day. So with our threenager at my side, my wife running errands and the cats and dogs dropping from the skies we didn't do all that much setting up. I concentrated on cleaning up our own living space and getting that ready for a relative who has a hard time seeing. I leveled the ground in front of our RV (a bit) and decluttered the inside to lend them our bed for the weekend.
When we finally made it back to the festival site, we saw that the storm had taken one of my two tarps down, ripped the corners right off and put a hole in the center of this pretty expensive 12 X 24 tarp... ðŸ˜!!!
I was on the verge of giving up all together.
The party will go on regardless of how much we set it up! It's just a bunch of friends camping in the woods anyway...do we really need an outdoor kitchen, a dance floor, a DJ booth and a compost toilet with privacy???
Once the night came, the rain didn't stop or slow down very much, the fire pit was full of water, all the wood was soaked!!! A few friends showed up and we were able to place everyone in dry spaces between our camper and a small pop-up camper that wasn't lived in by none human critters too much. We just partied under a small canopy without a fire.
The next morning however, everyone jumped in and made this little festy happen.
Gotta love our friends (party people) they knew what to do!
Some people came from Puerto Rico, some from California, Some from New York City, some from Delaware, and some from England!!! Don't let me fool you, we only had a maximum of 15 people each day, slowly rotating as some of our working friends and family could only come on the weekend.
Now that the party is over, our place feels a little lonely...
It's been a rough summer, between the rain and the heat waves, it's been tough getting any work done! But we made it through this birthday party without a scratch and it was really fun.
I guess maybe with the lack of pictures. You could tell we had fun because after the first couple days, there are no more photos!
Not even a birthday cake photo!!!
Happy Birthday!!!

Some people have a green thumb, I think I may have a green hand!
