I’m always on the hunt for some good food from Yawd and I like taking my none Jamaican friends along for the ride. It has become something that they look forward to and these days they are often the ones to indicate that it’s time for another search.[Fried chicken] 7FC18007-3AD5-48F5-9EF9-81159D95EDAB.jpeg
As I mentioned some time ago, end of year is drinking party time so I got a message from a friend to meet up for some liquid. We searched and found Jamaican restaurant that we hadn’t tested before and of course we decided that we had to go dig in. 5DC6546B-C56D-4B67-A157-CD3339473A3F.jpeg
The website said that it would open at 6pm so I arrived just in time. However, the signboard there indicated that it would open at 7pm. I could see the man inside and judging by his movements and slight tardiness I said - must be a Yawd man, yes iya - a Jamaican restaurant run by a Jamaican 🇯🇲. 7A55CF17-C1F2-47D8-A234-6ACF0D510F0F.jpeg
This is content gold for a reggaesteemian!
Kevin is from central Jamaica and has been in Japan 🇯🇵 for a few years. He’s been running this little place for about two years. Prior to doing his own thing he was the top chef at one of the well known eateries in Osaka. 4C6B9D1D-51D6-4C07-B2BB-9A7086FC78B8.jpeg
As you walk in you get that island vibe. The place is small and can seat about 10 people comfortably. 29F14BA8-EA46-4011-9CDD-78DB76BF024F.jpeg
The shelves were decorated with spiritual flavors of the Caribbean with a dash of Japanese and international liquids to offer variety to patrons. I was busy taking pictures as Kevin did his magic in the kitchen, E83B71BD-5A0B-4907-AC3D-BA03846BE7C7.jpeg

Drinks are reasonably priced - they also taste good. I had a few so I can testify. F55C1F9B-CA64-4469-81B1-F82EB9523A25.jpeg

The menu has a Jamaican food and some Japanese crossover seeing that a lot of Japanese people don’t do well with spicy food. 52A41207-7130-4537-A4AE-DE3D5F038AA3.jpeg
Most dishes had a bit of jerk seasoning in it - this is in an authentic Grace bottle but this was made by Kevin- true Jamaican. 😀346388D8-F67D-40E4-A92E-48B8FBE35B5E.jpeg
Not much of a white rice fan but it’s loved by Japanese people so I indulged my guest. F3599E42-B0E7-4A06-8EB5-D5342C0DC7EE.jpeg
A bit of sweet and sour - one of the best things that the Chinese Jamaican community has given to us. 219A5557-E98D-4CC4-8282-FB6D76837D02.jpeg
