Ice Cream At Glenelg Beach -An FFF Entry-

The dark blue, cloud-free Adelaide sky just screamed to be photographed that day.
“Definitely later.” I thought to myself, as I brought my gaze back in line with the driver while I stepped onto the bus. After a cheerful greeting and ticket validation, I found a seat and we were soon on our way.

For me, the trip to Glenelg Beach requires a bus, train and finally a tram, taking about an hour and change. The location used to be famous for an amusement park with water slides called “Magic Mountain”, and while the amusement park and water slides are still sort of there, it’s not the same as it once was.

The reason for my trip, however, was not pleasure but in fact to get laser surgery on my right eye by an eye specialist. They didn’t have the laser locally. Oh, don’t worry! The surgery was because there was a 1% chance that my retina might detach. Apparently I must have damaged my eye in my youth.

Because I was early, I got to take a few photos of the area.

The area is being renovated and one building was covered in scaffolding; you can see it in the above photo. I even saw a construction worker struggling to do his job in the very windy environment too. The Ferris wheel is new, and while I personally consider it an eyesore, the view from the top would be spectacular.

OK, so by now you’re probably thinking “Shaidon, this is a Food Fight Friday competition! Where’s the food?!”. That’s a fair call.

I looked around and found a place to get a sandwich, some of which went to feed an ever-increasing flock of seagulls at the grassy area above. I secretly suspect Alfred Hitchcock might have visited Glenelg at some point before filming “The Birds”. Chuckle. Maybe, maybe not.

I needed to calm my nerves, no not from the seagulls, but from the thought of the impending surgery.

A friend of mine introduced me to this place and is now an “essential must visit” location.
Just look at this photo:

The surgery was quick and the laser was painless. The only bad parts are the eye drops (pupil dilation and numbing solution) and that the doctor is applying pressure to keep your eye lids open. The laser fills your vision and I almost felt like I had closed my eyes, ruining the surgery. But he was holding my eye open and it was soon over.

What I found weird was that they charged me money for the surgery and said I would be reimbursed by Medicare. I had no idea how much it would cost, and I am grateful I hadn’t wasted any of my recent tax return, but I did end up with my money back eventually so it all worked out in the end.

After the surgery I waited in the waiting room for a few minutes before leaving and going back to the beach. I took several photos and videos for later use. The competition for the thumbnail for this post was quite fierce but I couldn’t include them all.

This was on Tuesday, and so much has happened since then that I have blog posts to write for days and I have competition entries for weeks to come. Phew! Life, eh? I keep telling myself that it will settle down soon, I don’t think it will and I really don’t want life to get boring.

Thank you for reading and I hope you got a few laughs out of this. Have a great week if I don’t see you before then, have fun, ignore the Steem price and keep posting content. See you next time!
