Hi! It's been a while since I've posted anything which I will probably explain in detail sometime today or tomorrow. Keep your eyes peeled for my very first ulog. But in the meantime, @blockurator started an interesting relay type story and it was my turn to contribute! Basically a bunch of writers are taking turns to write a story together.
To get you caught up you can read part one here: @blockurator/exquisite-corpse-a-perfect-day-for-a-murder-5ac5b417938edest written by @blockurator

Part 3
Vinnie tried not to frown when he saw her. He wasn’t sure what he’d expected. For all her talk of woe and dismay, she held her head surprisingly erect. She made direct eye contact with the woman at the door and didn’t have any obvious nervous ticks.
That all changed when she saw him stand up. It was like she flipped a switch. Her posture turned inward, her head bent down and slightly to the right and her eyes only ever briefly flickered to his. She played timid and insecure well, but not well enough to fool him. It was obviously an act, but why? Was she pretending to be insecure to pick up guys? Vinnie had met a few guys that seemed to gravitate towards such women so it seemed plausible enough.
He considered calling the whole thing off then and there. She’d be much harder to talk off the ledge than he’d been expecting. On the other hand, she was pretty. Maybe he deserved a regular run of the mill date for once.
He plastered on his most charming smile as he approached her. He escorted her back to the quiet corner he’d selected for them. Vinnie realized quickly that he had no idea how to talk to a woman he wasn’t trying to murder. He cleared his throat. “So, nice weather today isn’t it?”
“Yes, I suppose it is.”
After starting with the weather, Vinnie decided there was no harm in following through with the rest of the usual mundane drivel that filled time during first dates. “So what’s your favorite band?”
They continued on in that manner for what felt like a lifetime. He asked her questions that she had already answered on her online profile, and she pretended not to be bored out of her mind while answering them. Their only reprieve was when the barista came around to refill their mugs. He hadn’t gone on a real first date in so long that he’d forgotten how awful they were.
He excused himself and made his way to the men’s room. The restroom was small and dimly lit. The majority of the light was filtering through a window above the sink from a street lamp outside. Vinnie couldn’t help but notice that the window swung out and was just big enough for him to squeeze through. Was it impolite to try to escape out the bathroom window? Yes. But then again, it was also impolite of her to lead him into believing she was an easy mark.
He hoisted himself onto the sink and pushed the window open. He’d managed to pull himself half way through when someone yanked his leg and pulled him backwards. He landed hard on the dirty linoleum bellow. Katie was standing above him pointing a knife at him accusingly.
“You were seriously going to run out on our date?! That is so rude!”
