Greetings my fellow Steemians! I'm going to rouse you into an epic fervor with the awesome power of my words!
Or maybe not. I just wanted to make sure I got some attention going here.
As many of you are aware, I have been manually curating Steem for the majority of my time here on the platform. Curation is something that means a lot to me, finding good value posts from users I was previously unaware of is a big part of the draw of the Steem Platform.
For a brief time, I ran a writing contest of my own. Alas, I was losing money on the contest prizes, and decided that I needed to put a halt to that. But I still love my #fiction category.
So you can imagine my dismay at seeing fiction fall off of the top tags list entirely. Where did all of my writers go? Surely there is not a lack of creativity out there? We just need to give it a little kick start right? It is NaNoWriMo after all! We need to encourage some writing!!
So here's what I am prepared to do. Sadly, my Steem life has become too busy for me to add running a new contest to my list of things I need to do, so I am going to sponsor a few writing contests. I'd like to support Five contests with $20 SBD each that will be awarded to writers participating in the fiction tag.
Sound interesting? Great. Here's the requirement.
If you are already running contests, and just need a sponsor, shoot me a link to your current contest, and tell me how having an extra $20 SBD will impact your contest.
If you have not run a contest, but are passionate about the fiction writing community, give me a run down of what your contest would look like.
Rules for Sponsorship:
- Contests must be in English.
- In the spirit of NaNoWriMo, where writers are encouraged to write 1700 words per day to reach 50,000 words in a month, let's go for longer stories here. Contest must be for Fiction Story Writing, 600 word minimums, no word max. Sorry Poets, you'll need to find a different advocate for the poetry tag.
- Preference will be given to contests which feature a writing prompt of some sort. Extra Preference if the writing prompt comes from another Steem Content Creator.
- $20 SBD can be divided in a manner of the contest runner's choosing as long as all goes to contestants.
- If I am not familiar with you and your contest, Prize money will be made available to contest runners at the completion of the contest for distribution.
- I will be monitoring for collusion and reserve the right to deny sponsorship to anyone trying to pull one over on me.
Please spread this post far and wide. I want good fiction to come out of National Novel Writing Month! And more importantly, I want to see fiction climb back up into the popular tags. Right up into the top ten where it belongs! Get out there and get writing!
