This week I thought I would write another short story in exactly #fiftywords (the challenge allows for entries between 50 and 1500 words).
“You’re always throwing good money after bad,” Shirl’s lip curls, as she speaks.
Dave laughs.
“There’s no such thing as bad money, darlin’!”
From his pocket, he pulls a note, dropping it onto the bookie's outstretched hand.
Shirl’s face crumples. She thinks of empty cupboards, the landlord and debt collectors.
