The dog in the window. A microfiction for @jayna

Dear friends, today, like almost every week, I write my story for the microfiction contest organized by @jayna. And like every time I participate, I can recommend my writer friends to participate. The top is 250 words and each week there is a word to inspire you. This week was window.
I leave, then, the bases in case you are encouraged, and my participation.
I am grateful.

El perro en la ventana

... : ...:...:... : ...

When it happened, I took charge of the complaint, of course. I am the janitor of the well-known Window Building. An old building that supports my father's extravagant architectural decision to place huge windows in every tiny apartment. "These are windows with apartments," the neighbors mock.

Old tenants live here, real antiques, who, due to various ailments, barely come out. They usually talk to me from those windows... just when I leave in a hurry.

"Mr. Flores, my sink is leaking," shouts the deaf old lady from 3B from her balcony with geraniums. I have to scream to answer her.

"Can you bring me two loaves of bread, if you would be so kind, young man," asks the old violinist of 2A from his window with concert stickers given hundreds of years ago... And so on. These windows are my heritage. It's welcome.

But Marcial, the stealthy old man in 4B was always another story. He never shows up. However, his dog is always on the balcony, for years.

And one fine day, out of nowhere, Marcial stabs the gentle lady of the geraniums. We were horrified, of course, but everything fit together. That old man gave me the creeps.

Marcial's photo came out in the newspaper with a huge headline "His dog ordered him to kill his neighbor. Horror plot in the Window Building."

Marcial awaits trial in 4B. He is very old.

The dog is still in the window. Stalking. I don't know what he is waiting for.

Gracias por la compañía. Bienvenidos siempre.
