Bringing American Style BBQ to Russia
Several years ago when I came to St. Petersburg, many of my friends wanted to know how to prepare good, authentic American style BBQ and other recipes. Showing them came with many challenges such as finding the right ingredients or substitutes, having the correct tools, and then experimenting with both of these to recreate the great tastes of Kansas City style BBQ.
Our project has led to the launch of our own catering company, which can do indoor and outdoor events, parties, etc. We have designed and built our own grills and smokers, bottled our own sauces and rubs, and even built some American backyard games such as "Washers" and "Cornhole" (bags). We plan to start printing and selling "coozies", shirts, and hats soon.
Grilled BBQ Chicken Wings & Legs
It seems that everyone likes chicken wings nowadays, but not everyone knows how to use a charcoal grill to get their chicken wings done right. By "right" I mean juicy, tender, and savory and not burnt to a crisp.
In this video, I walk people through the process of preparing chicken wings and legs for the charcoal grill. How to clean and apply rub to them in order to give them some special "kick" when they're served. Afterwards, I demonstrate how to cook them on a charcoal grill "low and slow", which optimizes their taste at serving time. I use our homemade sauces to add that authentic Kansas City BBQ flare to them just before pulling them off the grill and serving to the anxiously waiting crowd of guests.
