Good and Bad Food for Sleep

Sleeping is one of the constant and longest activity of one’s life. It becomes very important for a person to know about the types of food that he/she should eat before going to bed. Also it is not always recommended to have healthy food before bed because it may lead to obesity and overweight.  



Good Food to Have Before Bed 


Milk 

Milk contains amino acids which helps to promote sleep in every age of people. It is always recommended to have milk at night rather than morning because of the same reason. 



Whole Grains 

Breads, pistas, rice and more with protein (egg, chicken) is a great combination to have before you go to your bed. This combination helps in your brain to absorb most of the nutrients and become mentally healthy.

Magnesium Food

Food with high magnesium content like dark leafy greens and avocado is the perfect food to ease your sleep. Magnesium content really helps to improve the quality of your sleep. 



Cherries 

Cherries contains melatonin that is also produced by our body helping in sleep aid. It may help us to feel more refreshing and active.

Bad Food that you should avoid Before Bed


Caffeine Intake 

A good health requires 200 to 300mg of caffeine per day and need to avoid during bedtime. Caffeine is not only present in your coffee or latte but also in chocolate, energy drinks, soft drinks and tea.  



Consume Low Alcohol 

A glass of beer, wine or some other alcohol may help you feel sleepy but taking it just before going to bed can disturb you sleep. 


High-Fat Foods 

Food like chips, fried foods, ice creams, and more that contains high fat content should be avoided before bed as it can lead to restlessness. Another reason to avoid high fat foods is they take more time to digest so taking these foods will keep you awake late night.
