In my one month of being active on Steemit I have been inspired by a number of posts to try something new. About ten days ago @semillas did such a post on how to make chilli oil here. I liked the look of it so much that I decided to give it a trial run.
The first step was to gather everything together and begin the process of deseeding the chillies. The pods were home grown last year and we have hundreds of the things sat in the freezer so grabbing a few for this experiment was no problem. The olive oil was a cheap bottle from the local supermarket. If this trial works I'll splash out on a more expensive oil, but this will do fine for now.
With the pods done I laid them out ready for drying. All I did was place them in the oven after we had cooked a meal and allowed the residual heat to dry the pods out.
The result - but would there be enough?
Next, I blitzed them into a powder in a blender.
The recipe provided by @semillas said 40g per 1 litre of oil. I have nowhere near enough. Never mind, I can add this and then do some more pods.
The chilli powder added into the oil in a mixing jar.
I'm hoping this will turn out as good as the one's in @semillas post looked!
A big thank you once again to @semillas for the inspiration. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks how it turns out.
Until next time take care of yourselves.
