Karelian Patties(Recipe and Food Photos).

Hello friends! Today I want to show you a recipe of very tasty Karelian patties. Karelian patties are a traditional dish of Karelia and some eastern regions of Finland. Karelian patties are small pies, the classic version of which is made from rye dough stuffed with potatoes, rice, barley or carrots. For this recipe I used only rye dough and mashed potatoes, and incredibly delicious pies were produced !!!

It is claimed that these patties were invented already in the IX century, that is, before the Baptism of Rus. Today, Karelian pies are a popular kind of baking, not only in the north-west of Russia, but also in Finland and Scandinavia.

Recipe

Ingredients:

Rye flour - 500 g

Sour Cream - 125 g

Milk - 130 g

Butter - 2 tbsp.

Eggs - 1 pc.

Salt - 1 tsp.

Preparation:

Peel potatoes, wash and boil. Stir in the mashed potatoes and add a lightly beaten egg. Pour melted butter into mashed potatoes. Add salt and mix thoroughly. Allow to cool. Prepare the dough. To do this, mix the milk and sour cream. Sift the flour, add a little salt and mix with a mixture of milk and sour cream. To stir thoroughly. The dough should be elastic. Knead it and cover with food film. The dough should "rest" for 20-30 minutes. Divide the dough into equal parts and roll out each piece 1-1.5 mm thick. Cut the medium circles into a shape or mug.

In the middle of each mug put 2 tablespoons of the filling. On both sides of the test, tilt the edges to the middle, reducing them with an interval of about 1 cm. Place the patties on a baking sheet, oiled. Bake for 20 minutes at 200 degrees.

Karelian pies were very tasty, rye dough gives an unusual taste to these pies, and mashed potatoes are juicy. Now I will remember this recipe, and I will cook these patties, I hope you do too.

Bon Appetit!
