Pasta is an all time favourite of mine (as is bacon) so why not try this easy meaty treat that serves 4-6. Nice and simple.
INGREDIENTS:
2 rashers of streaky bacon
225g pasta twirls
1 onion chopped
1 clove garlic finely chopped
30g butter
3 tablespoons plain flour
475mls milk
340g grated Cheddar cheese
@mindhunter METHOD:
Preheat the oven to 180C/160 fan/Gas mark 4.
Cook the bacon over a medium heat in a large deep frying pan until crispy then drain, crumble and set aside.
In a large pot with hot boiling salted water, cook the pasta until al dente then drain.
In a medium frying pan, fry the chopped onion and garlic. Take off the heat and add the chopped cooked bacon and set aside.
To make the sauce, in a medium saucepan melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the flour and stir constantly for 2 minutes.
Add the milk gradually and continue stirring until thickened. Stir in two thirds of the grated cheese and stir until melted.
Combine the pasta and the cheese sauce in a 2 litre baking dish. Sprinkle over the remaining cheese and the bacon.
Bake uncovered in the oven until the cheese is melted and brown.
Enjoy your simple and humble pasta meal my fellow Steemians.
