My lovely arty friend @donnadavisart made a comment on one of my posts about how much she loves food porn, since she is on a low (or is it NO?) carb diet, and it gave me the idea to do a little round up of some of my past food and recipe posts.
They will def ALL be out of the seven day window so PLEASE don't waste your VP on them, but please do let me know which you like best, as I really want to push myself to create more foodie posts. They are just A LOT of work lol!
Looking back over the last six months - I have made some super delicious dishes, and I am so proud to say that I can see my progress, both in the finesse of my preparation and technique of the food, and in the photography.
Steemit has really helped to push me to realise just how much I love to make beautiful food, and then take photos of it. I am slowly but surely building my own little studio in my spare room (any else say spare oom every time they say that?)

I digress (what's new?). I want to start making loads of food videos for YouTube and DTube, and just be the next queen of the internet.
I am really inspired by the style of the Tasty videos on YouTube, with the quick cuts, and stop motion film. I do think that the food they do is a bit unhealthy and would love to focus on more refined dishes. I absolutely love the over head angle they shoot from - it looks so fresh and is definitely a very 2017/2018 blogger's signature. Why? Most bloggers shoot from overhead as they are using their cellphones. That for me is so cool as it is a piece of history, a piece of pop culture right there!
Here's one of their vids!
MY OWN FOOD :
At the beginning of Winter this year, I made one of my own tried and tested recipes, spicy Asian butternut soup. I make this every year, but finally got it to a next level yumminess that I was happy with. To see the recipe, click here.
My favourite green salad with loads of different types of tomatoes, a cranberry cheese and the best wholegrain mustard dressing I have ever made, here. It's a very peaceful and zen salad, with nothing too hectic, just right for when you have been overindulging and just want something healthy and fresh!
I was so so proud to get this Miso Soup recipe down. It's something I love to eat, and always thought it would be one of those very complicated dishes - but it was super easy to make, and tasted SO GOOD!
I make A LOT of cake and sweet things, and most of the time, never eat it! LOL. I made my colleague a delicious chocolate cake for his birthday, shared what I can only call THE LITERAL BEST chocolate buttercream recipe, here
This is another one of my very own tried and tested recipes. If I ever write a book, it will definitely go in. My Winter Cous Cous Salad can be eaten hot or cold, and actually stems from my mom's Chistmas stuffing recipe.
DAMN, girl, how you get so fine?! This is possibly one of the most delicious dishes I have ever made, and I was proud to tick it off the list of classics I can make. Check my GIF skill too! I posted it here. Don't drool on your screen
Sometimes I just want to eat something super spicy and comforting, but not gain 10kg when I do. My Vegan Bean Chili is healthy, comforting and delicious. I love to crack a poached egg on top.
If you ask any of my friends what I will bring to a barbecue or picnic, they will definitely answer with "Mew Mew's Asian Slaw". I have been making this for years, and first invented it way back when i had a small restaurant. It would also go in my recipe book if I ever wrote one! Here's the recipe
I was super happy with these photos. I didn't have many props, so I raided our garden, and made some tea. It worked well, and the Traditional South African Milk Tart was just so creamy and unctuous.
More pics from when @morkrock and I had a restaurant. I can't remember where I posted this, but on the left is my home made granola, and on the right is a predecessor to my Green Salad I mention above.
My Vegan Roasted Aubergine with Crispy Quinoa was such a winner. I particularly remember bonding with @bigtom13 over it.
Every Christmas we make Baked Camembert and this time round I made it with a chilli jam. It is a super delicious and easy dish to make, and is a really impressive dish to make if you have guests over
EATING OUT:
I live in a beautiful, cosmopolitan city with loads and loads of cutting edge restaurants. Eating out is always an experience, and there is something to suit everyone.
BREAKFAST:
I love going for breakfast on the weekend, it's my favourite way to unwind and catch up with friends and family.
Here are some of the breakfasts I've nommed in the past few months:
Melissa's Food Store:

LUNCH
Lunching is a very Capetonian thing. Almost every one is a free lancer, actor/writer/waitress (or not - I mean, not me), but somehow always has time to lunch out with a good Chardonnay.
Here are a few of my faves from the past few months:
TASHAS @ THE WATERFRONT
Technically, I was there for brunch, but one can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and a smoothie at Tasha's. One of my fave spots in all of Cape Town, due to the beautiful decor.
See the pretty shop and more delicious food pics here
LOLA'S IN ICONIC LONG STREET
Every person who has lived or traveled to Cape Town will have a story to tell about that one time on Long street.
I had a trip down memory lane and a gorgeous falafel burger at Lola's
I wrote one of my favourite posts of all time reviewing Lola's here
LEKKER VEGAN
Being it's trendy self, of course Cape Town has multiple vegan, plant based restaurants. My favourite so far is Lekker Vegan, with proper vegan junk food.

OCEAN JEWELS
One of the best fish shops in CT. My favourite work lunch time hang out.

DINNER
I don't really eat a lot for dinner as it tends to be quite pricey, and I can make most of the food at home myself. What I really do enjoy about going out for a fancy dinner, is seeing the food and decor trends. We have such top notch restaurants here and I really do consider us lucky. (Hashtag blessed)
HOMAGE 1862
One of the most memorable dinners of the year, I truly loved Homage and their holistic approach to food. Something completely different

TASHA'S CANAL WALK
Another Tasha's, this time in Century City. Although it is in a mall, it is really a great option for a dinner and a movie kind of date night
And that's it from me. I really enjoyed going back in time a little bit and seeing my year so far in food pics!
Hope you liked it @donnadavisart xxx
